the crackling sound the radio makes in silent hill. redeads moaning in OOT, its not scary but more of a warn for annoyance.

I have to say some of the scariest sounds in all of gamedom has to be from the Silent Hill series.

The sounds of the babies crying in the background, the random and loud phone ringing when all else is quiet and finally the static from the radio when a creature is coming closer. I freaked me out as it got louder and louder and you turned all the way around and could not see the damned thing due to the mist.

When the green meter in Eternal Darkness runs low, the nightmare begins. Some scary stuff and sounds happens. Like a baby crying and a banshee crying... the baby crying seriously scares me and saddens my heart at the same time.

I've been wanting to play that game for years! First game I will get it if I buy a wii.

Redeads in Zelda. Also, the forest temple music in OOT, at 3AM in the morning, is quite unnerving.

The first time I played Metroid Prime, I found the Chozo Ghosts pretty freaky, especially the screams they make when they appear.
