Sometimes the lack of any sound is some parts of Silent Hill is even more scary XD

You're all wrong. The scariest sounds has got to be Legacy of Kain: Defiance, when you're playing as Raziel. I was once told to stop playing that shit cause whoever was behind the sounds came damn close to a real supernatural occurrence.

Yeah i know how it sounds, i was thinking the same thing as well..up until the point i realized they weren't joking.

STuff that's stuck with me:

-Silent Hill, early in the school level, you enter a dark room and hear a baby crying, and the cry is getting closer and the static louder, and you can't quite find the baby with the flashlight... And then the little shadow baby crawls between your feet and out through the wall. Scared the shit out of me.

-My wife would definitely say the air-raid sirens in Silent Hill.

-When you start hearing voices in Eternal Darkness. Problem is, a lot of those sound effects are second fiddle to the insane visuals at that point, and the way the game fucked with you.

I'd agree with that.  I guess I'm of the opinion that overall Silent Hill series remains the best creepy titles yet, particularly 1 & 2.

I agree with this. The environment and the sound combine in Silent Hill is a real big mind fuck[notably in the hopital SH2 on the green slimy side]. I kept, expecting to see Pyramid Head around the next corner. LOL

The scream that triggers when you get frozen by a redead in Zelda.

Fatal Frame/Project Zero 1 & 2 has some pretty good ghost sounds.
