Forums - Sony - To everyone who has their PS3 set vertically...

How are your intake ducts doing? I'd like to set my PS3 vertically, but I'm worried about it taking to much dust in+clogging the intakes... so.. how are they?

pretty normal, I'd guess...how far your PS3 is off the ground is probably the most important factor I'd think

i have my set like that and doesn't go to bad . just the front where the usb ports are gets dusty as hell.

Interesting. I'd expect dust to fall right into the ducts when it's vertical!

Which ones better for heat? My PS3 just froze when i was playing Infamous!

Tease.

I'd say horizontal would be better. hot air rises so you'll get the heat from everything going over your mobo if vertical.

Horizontally, all heat should just go up and out.

In theory, of course.

Fan effects not taken into my calculations either.

Depends on how quick hot air goes up - and how quick it cools down. My PS3 seemed a bit cooler vertically.

Didn't someone point a heat gun at the PS3 when it was vertical/horizontal to find out which was cooler?

Ahh yes here it is, horizontal is better/cooler.

Just make sure your house is clean. It`s not hard to clean and it looks really nice when you`re done.
