I got an error back in December 08' not E74 but E73 with only one red light flashing, still was a RROD..

I wasn't even playing when it happend, I turned on my 360 the first time that day and there it was, E73

I took my 360 apart down to the board, replaced the X-clamps (X-clamp mod) and added extra cooling fans, self powered, and modded the stock fans to run at a consistent 12v..

no problem since ..

My Xbox 360 is a Nov. 07 model..

Sound like mine ;) good work u gotta love replacing the x clamps. It makes for a much more reliable console. As for the constant 12v fans god it sounds like a jet engine. I have mine set up like that but i think im gonna re solder them back to the origional settings its just so damn annoying

Are you using HDMI or component? If its HDMI then possibly your port is coming loose. Its happening to mine and sometimes it makes the screen change colors and fuzz in and out and the like. Try re adjusting your HDMI cable

It does the same thing when i switch to the SD cables. I have a new set of componet cables coming here. Hopefully that will fix everything. Otherwise i'm gonna tell the Xbox tech guy, that i've been exchanging e-mails with, that i need to send it in.

its kinda of annoying, Yea, I'm also cosidering doing the same, run it factory settings knowing that I have extra fans to back them up, Oh! I forgot to add, I cut open the exhaust vents (holes from the back) and the inner metal grill so the exhaust fans can extract more heat more efficiently .

Well bad news, the new cables did not work. Now i don't even hear any audio. Damn now i'm gonna have to wait like 3 weeks to finish Point Lookout.

I wonder if my warranty will cover this problem.

If it doesnt say E74 on your TV screen when you turn on you Xbox then NO, you are not covered ..

You are covered only if you get the 3 red lights or if it reads E74 on your screen, which ever comes first .

If Im you I'll make it RROD.. stick a fine stick on the back of the Xbox, or something that will fit through the holes then push through the fans and make them stop, the system will overheat for the lack of ventilation.

Note: Push in the q tip while the Xbox is off then turn on, you will see the fans not spinning..

The towel trick will take longer to overheat but you can try that too.

E73 is usually firmware orientated, you were lucky to get it going again.

I really hope I never have any problems. I also worry for when I eventually get a PS3.... the only company I trust is Nintendo with these situations.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

Well if you get it then you atleast know that you are covered by M$.
