Forums - Gaming - Nintendo Wiimote - BEST CONTROLLER EVA

Its obvious that Nintendo know what theyre doing. Always innovating with their controllers as much as they innovate with console design and their consistent ability to update their classic franchise game brands.  Wiimote wins in the play off because its got more functionality,  its easier to use, its got retro appeal and attachments allow future innovations to be easily integrated.

1 - Ir Pointer means you can point and manipulate the game with ease. Also perfect for a revival of point and click adventures and fps games.

2 - Motion Control. Self explanatory but it has allowed new and easier methods of interaction with the game world. Though simplistic according to some attachments have now allowed a more complex and detailed range of motion capture.

3 - Traditional controller form. Allows basic 2 button NES style gameplay when needed. The reality is some games just don't need that many buttons and Nintendo are intelligent enough to understand this.

4 - Nunchuk. A comfortable and unique attachment allowing the user to relax one hand while allowing greater ease of use for the ir pointer.

5 - Evolutionary. The most important point to be made is that the wiimote has changed the way controllers are used in videogames forever. Not only have accelorometres been incorporated in many other technologies, such as mobile phones and mp3 players, the innovation of the wiimote has been copied by both Microsoft and Sony. Proving once again that Nintendo are the most original, innovative and ahead of their time videogame companies in the history of the industry the wiimote is clearly the BEST controller of this gen. and arguably the best of all time.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
