Seems like everywhere i go i can't get away from the stuff.  All my friends and everybody i meet, they all do drugs!  They justify and rationalize it and say well pot ain't a drug or i only do pills on the weekends etc.

Because they can. Don't question it...anyone can defend anything...especially with the good old "it's only recreational..." or "social drug." Either accept they do it...or pimp slap some sense into them. that probably didn't help at all...but with the increasing amount of events where 95% of people are using (raves, concerts, etc.)...you feel a bit like a douche if you're the only one in the arena not going crazy with glow sticks. It's pretty much accepted among people under 25 nowadays..there's even clubs dedicated to drugs like ecstasy...everyone knows what goes on in there, even cops, but no one will do anything about it...that's just how it is. To answer your question...no. I never got the whole concept of "fun" with using drugs. I can have fun without them easily...some people can't.

About 50% of my school does chew, Mary jane, or they just get drunk off their asses on the weekends.
People that do chew make you wonder "why?"
It's disgusting.

Why? Because it's fun. It's a nice little escape, just like any other entertainment from theatre to video games.

Drugs are also useful as a social lubricant. Nothing like a couple drinks to lower inhibitions and draw us introverts out of our shells. It's easier to have a good time when you aren't worried about embarrassing yourself. And if you do humiliate yourself, it's easy to scapegoat the drug. I swear some people lose more inhibitions from the psychological excuse than they do from the chemistry.

There are other reasons, of course. I once knew a guy who started smoking just because he was jealous of the 5 minute breaks smokers got while us pink-lungs got to keep working. Seems like a petty reason to court lung cancer.

I've tried a few things but, aside from weed (which I've probably smoked 5-6 times), only once. Never anything with needles.

Personally though I don't find the lighter drugs much to be bothered about, they are to me on par with alcohol. Only, for some reason I've enjoyed them less because they made me feel dizzy from the start.

The only people that need to resort to drugs are the ones that aren't happy enough to begin with. I deal with my issues by confronting them, not by smoking them away :p

that and I've never understood the debates people have on weed. "omg did you ever notice how string is so....long?"

No. I am actually getting my degree in substance abuse.Why because I have lost many friends because of it. One is dead a few locked up in jail and a couple that got way to deep into it.

I do have a drink form time to time usueally never getting drunk.

The only drugs I take are legal, and for asthma...so naturally, I don't smoke anything. I don't like needles, I hate the feeling of things up my nose, and I don't take a lot of pills because I feel that the body does a better job of healing itself than most pharmaceuticals. Also, I drink once in a while, but never get drunk...or buzzed for that matter.
