Forums - Nintendo - A Wiilly (Aaargh....sorry) Nice Story

As many of you know, i work for Orange, recently we've had low morale in the office and to brighten everything up a little we have brought in a Wii . The response to this has been insane, everyone queuing up to have a go, to the point where we have had to introduce a rotation system. I was bowling against a 56 year old man earlier today (i still cant believe i lost) who enjoyed it so much hes going to go out and buy one tonight. Its just been a great change of pace. A few people who consider themselves "elite gamers" and own an XB360 still hold the attitude that Wii is just a fad. I tried to explain that at the moment the Wii will be experiencing more cheaply made party games than fully fledged "hardcore" titles due to the fact that development has only really begun to shift to the Wii. This got no response so i pointed them out to this page and they blatantly denied all evidence that they saw in front of their eyes stating this site was wrong.  I just find this attitude laughable tbh but hey, they sat miserable as anything all day while the rest of the unit was having fun. One thing that does annoy me though is the fact that all my mates (all big playstation and xbox fans) treat Nintendo as something that they have discovered now that the Wii is doing well and yet these are the same people who laughed at me when i was praising the Gamecube and the N64... Bloody fickle. But yeah, the point being that Wii = More fun at work for me!

I assume you mean during breaks, but my first thought:

Enter BOSS

BOSS: Hey, aren't you guys supposed to be maintaining mobile phone masts?

WORKER #1: Yes, but Wii Bowling is more fun.

BOSS: OK then.

If you are interested in trying Ubuntu or Linux in general, PM me and I will answer your questions and help you install it if you wish.

@Nairu

Nice story. I think if everyone took their Wii to work it would create a buzz.

Several people where I work (aged 30 - 60) are aware and intrigued by the Wii and its controls, they are not gamers at any level but are very interested in it.

These same people have no clue what Blu-Ray or HD is and little to no knowledge of the PS3 or Xbox 360.

Start Orange Wiiday!

I keep seeing the Wii show up in the news and on TV more and more lately ...

Yesterday I saw a news story on how the Wii was being used in a retirement home in Vancouver, and I saw a body-break commercial encouraging the use of the Wii to promote an active lifestyle. I could really see the Wii assending to a new level of popularity (to paraphrase Dragon Ball) next year when people who haven't thought about videogames in a decade become interested in it.

If I may ask, what is Orange? (no clue)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Orange is a telecommunications company (mobile phones, internet) and probably a lot of other things.

Yeah we do a fair bit, mobiles, broadband, now home phones and shortly to be releasing our competitor to Sky digital tv.

But yeah, its been a lot of fun and just been great as a way of getting to chat to people who you'd normally sit in the same room for 5 days a week and never say a word to. Nah we play it sometimes outside of breaks "to improve morale". Actually no idea why i "'d that as it does actually improve morale hehe.

Get another one =P

Oh and may I please kill you for the title? Please? XD

Wii - It's like Karaoke but you can do it at work.

Wii is like bungie jumping and then landing on a bubble sheet; after that, you realize you get stuck on it.
