MGS:R cant be MGS5....its the start of not only a new arc but a design too.

why can't that be MGS5 then...its set in the MG universe and so far we know it has a character (Raiden) who playes an important role in the series

because you generally dont start a new series with a number..example: Megaman and MegamanX series, Mario Galaxy, Metroid prime series...these have pervious installments but artn numbered aftre them because they start a new series( or arc), MGS:R is a new series with a new whole new design

im not following you when you say "whole new series" as far as I know Rising is part of the Metal Gear series whether its part of the main series or is a spin off it cannot be determined yet

let me explain alittle better....MGS:R does take place in the main series world , BUT could have a different story focus since the MGS arc ( MGS PO - MGS4) is over, so this begins a NEW chaper, with a NEW story, with a NEW design...hence it cant be called MGS 5 because its NOT(or possibly not) a continuation of MGS series....im trying another recent games series to give an example but nothings comming to mind..are you familiar with the .Hack series???

so lets say MGS:R is successful, it will go - MGS:R, MGS:R 2, MGS:R 3 and so on...

personally I believe if there was going to be a "whole new story and design" in the Metal Gear series, there wouldn't be any returning characters and we know Raiden will play a part in Rising. Also if you think about it MGS3 told a new chapter in the MG storyline and used a new design (CQC, camouflage) and MGS3 is canon...so thats why I believe theres a possibility MGS:R is canon...however its most likely not and Kojima will save MGS5 for nex gen hardware and im not aware of the .hack series

MGS3 is still relevant to the MGS storyline, for plenty of of reasons and CQC and CAMO is not a NEW design its a new element, but ok man...if you what Kojima says about his views on MGS and Snake are true MGS 5 isnt comming and also Kojima is trying to break away from MG series withe thd departure of Snake so I doubt hell play a Huge role in future MG games( probably just basic design and plot) hes new nextgen project will be a new IP or ZOE or snatchers

yes I know MGS3 is relevant to the storyline...but do you know it wouldn't be unless Kojima threw out the bio he wrote for Big Boss in the manual of MG2:SS? and Kojima has been trying to break away from MG series since MGS2...departure of Snake isn't exactly true since Kojima loves prequels and if he wants he could find a setting for Snake in MGS5
