Forums - Microsoft - The PS3 related turmoil amongst 360 users

Are you using a GOOD upconvert? Because if you were, then the difference really wouldn't be enough to justify the blu ray price.

The 360 could handle a lot more graphical limits, most pS3 fanboys just cry

Oh yes not to forget that Crysis 2 is coming out for the 360 which again Im sure will push the 360 graphics even more and again show that the 360 an keep up with the ps3 graphicly and that it doesnt have this huge advantage that some people hoped it would have.

It will be interesting to see what they can accomplish, they are some of the most competent PC game engine developers. I hope they take good advantage of Blu-Ray disc (for graphics / 7.1 audio streaming and assets capacity).

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

I hope they understand the Cell, RSX, and how the Cell interacts with the RSX in order to really push the hardware the proper way. The 360 for them is just a PC with EDram so that wont be an issue as they've shown they are realy good engine devs unlike epic who screwed so many devs with their engine.

Yes, but generally not as well as a GOOD upconverter.

Ok, let me address the OP

A. Ghostbusters has twice as much resolution on the 360, despite leading on the PS3. That is big, because Sony fans used the "game leads on the PS3" statement to act as if developers cared more about the PS3. Truth is, making a PS3 game would not be plausible if it wasn't the lead platform, because it is so hard to develop for. It is much easier to port UP than DOWN. Yes, ghostbusters looks much better on 360, so do most other multiplats, and they probably always will. Also, Forza 3 looks as good or better than anything on the PS3 so far.

B. People claim that there is not a huge difference between upscaled DVD9s at 1080p and Blu-Rays. This is true on small screen TVs below 42 inches, and you should accept that, at least. Not everyone has perfect eyesite, and not everyone is rocking a 52 inch plasma, so to many, many people, especially those on standard TVs, the different is insignificant. Period. Blu-Ray is NOT anywhere close to the jump from VHS to DVD, and even implying that is ridiculous. It might be 1/10th that significant of an increase, with its major function being increased content on 1 disc, rather than amazing new visuals. Upscaled DVD looks great. Blu-Ray looks better, but not 200 dollars better, unless you have a 42 inch plus TV, a 7.1 surround sound system, and are a big Sony fan.

I just want to see one 360 game that is deeper than the weekend movie programming on America's Sci-FiChannel, so far I haven't seen one.

What do you mean "deeper"? Are you talking story line? Because if so, you havn't looked at Mass Effect, Halo, Gears Of War, Fable 2, or lost Odyssey.

If anything PS3 exclusives are behind most cross-platform games now.

LOL....Ohh god this guy is x100 the fanboys OP will ever be.

"Most" is definitely pushing it, but I can't think of one PS3 exclusive besides MGS4, that approaches the awesomeness of Orange Box, Gears of War, Bioshock, Fallout 3, GTAIV, Vesperia, or Modern Warfare, ALL MULTIPLATS.

PS3 exclusives are as good as some of the best multiplats, but the best games this generation have been multiplats, hands down, unless you are talking about MGS4 or Galaxy. Those games rawk, and match those multiplats I've mentioned easily. However, there are only about 5 notable PS3 exclusives that can stand up against above average multiplats. MGS4, Valkyria, Infamous, Killzone 2, LBP. Outside of those games, yes, most multiplats are better than most other PS3 exclusives. Now, 5 big exclusives is a great achievement for a console this generation, however, compared to last gen, it's a failure. The PS3 exclusive lineup does appear to be getting better though, with GT5 and GoW3 coming out.

That's just my opinion, no offense.

The Xbox 360 doesn't need exclusives....it's 199. That said, it has ALL the multiplats, and the PS3 doesn't, so it's got a bretty amazing library considering the lack of exclusives due to PC ports.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

This is just ridiculous. Everything everyone has said in here, are you all serious. Are you all really getting this worked up over console differences? Isn’t this a site about sales? Isn’t this a site about gaming? When did sites become about playing graphics, or playing textures or all those other great things in a game that you don’t play.

These are just video game consoles, multimedia outlets. These things aren’t meant to be taken seriously. I see a lot of anger coming from post. MikeB may be a fanboy but at least he doesn’t seem angry when he says things. However, every other person in this thread seems very angry. Squilliam seems calm and collected showing his counterpoint, sometimes. Although, I think all of this is nonsense. Yes, we like graphics. But is that what is controlling us in buying video games, or are we buying games to have fun with.

I may only have a PS3 but that doesn’t mean I hate 360. It only means I had money to buy a PS3. Plus I like the games Sony puts out. So I am happy with whatever the PS3 can handle or not handle. Even though I think it can handle pretty much anything as well as the 360, but I also know the 360 can do things better in certain areas as well as the PS3 does things better in other areas.

I just don’t understand the hostility in people when it comes to systems. I don’t care if you have both. That doesn’t give you a pass. You either hate it or you don’t. I find it an excuse to say what you want about either console so you hopefully don’t seem like a fanboy. Just stop it. Why do it? What do you get out of arguing? You are not going to get anywhere with someone that has a different view and is set on it.

And for my final word. Just play games and have fun with the system you like. Buy multiplatform games for the system that you like the best and buy exclusives when they come.

what!?

What I said.  I want to see one game on 360 that has a deeperplot  than the average run of the mill weekend movie on the Sc-Fi Channl.  So far, I haven't seen one and most of the games on the 360 could be Sci-Fi Channel movies in movie form.  Certainly, Gears of War doesn't have much more of a story than Starship Troopers (it's just Starship Troopers with a bunch of bonehead football players and Sam Fisher / Master Chief wannabes as the main characters) and Alan Wake is just about like your run of the mill horror film with maybe a bit of influence from John Carpenter's Mouth of Madness.

On the other hand a game like The Last Guardian (and even Heavy Rain seems closer to a David Lynch film than your average horror film and the parts with the children playing that I've seen in the vids seem like nods towards Fritz Lang's M.) seem to have deeper artistic aspirations.
