Forums - Gaming - Castlevania and The Kojima effect

I hadnt watched the E3 trailer until this thread, but I have to say, this is the first time I have been excited about a castlevaina game (I missed sotn). Aside from all that, Kojima doesn't have things go out that arent well produced. Each of his games have so much complexity that flow well together with game play. Sure his cut scenes drag on sometimes, but I think that this will be the rebirth of the castlevania series.

Yes I am a fan of the Playstation 3, but I am an even bigger fan of intelligent and rational dialog. (If you are up for an intelligent exchange of ideas, you are more than welcome to add me as a friend)

At this point I don't have high hopes for any 3D Castlevania, unfortunately. We'll see what Kojima can do, but, goddamnit, don't put super-long cutscenes into an action game! I want action, not movie-watching or boring JRPG style crap.

IGA sucks at 3D.  Thankfully, Kojima is great at 3D.  He's just  supervising but that's enough to give me hope.  I think Mercury Steam are the ones that decide how long the cutscene's will be.  I don't think wil have 45-60 minutes ones.  Maybe 10-20 minues at most.

I won't concede Kojima is "great" at 3D.  But 10-20 minutes, obviously, for an old-school Castlevania fan like me, is 10-20 times too long.

I agree hope its not like a JRPG style. Until we see a gameplay video then we can't bash it. I just hope this game isnt super hard like other Castlevania games.

Eh, I'm the opposite: I hope it's super hard, not really easy like SOTN.  But it's hard to make a super-hard 3D game that is fair (i.e. not hard because of stupid camera angles or crappy 3D platforming).  Who knows?  I hope it turns out for the best, but I'm not holding my breath.

Everyone expecting high sales just because Kojima is involved is really delusional. Kojima was developing Lunar Knights and (at least I think so) also Boktai for Nintendo handhelds, but those games were probably far away even from becoming gold. Only fanboys know that Kojima is the guy behind MGS, and even if some people would know that he developed their game, this doesn't mean they would buy this game now.

Gameplay-wise I can't judge, but since the latest 2D installments have been good I don't see much trouble either way, no matter if Kojima is involved or not.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

I bet this will be the best Castlevania yet.
Not al Kojima games have long cut-scenes do some research
