im floored by this.... can ANYONE put a video please because what i played is not gameplay?? thats crazy..... GT5 pro looks better thats a fact....

Do you want me to put up a vid of me playing GT5P? I can show you the lack of detail of the tracks or the slowdown that occurs quite often. The cars may look good but the overall graphical experience goes to Forza 2.

The only way GT is comparable is if you took a screenshot of the game. In motion Forza runs much smoother. Thats fiction.

Seriously take your fan googles off for a second and you'll see that Forza 2 looks bad. Motorstorm, grid, gt5p, burnout paradise all blows it out of the water, that is a fact. Forza 2 is only comparable to ridge racer 7 when it comes to graphics... The truth is, its one of the worst looking driving games for the hd consoles.

Fanatec has comparable high quality wheels coming out for the X360 but the price is too much for a person who already own a G25. And I don't understand the reason with the limited edition crap.

GT has a big selection of wheels and the wheels really take the driving experience to a different level.
You can get the decent DFGT for $100 or you can get the superior G25 for $200+ and there are many other choices.

Driving with a controller never felt like a sim.

well i doubt those wheels are limited cause they made already several iterations of them(5th edition will be released in september/october if i remember), but yeah they are pricey - i'm not happy when i have to buy 350-500$ wheel just to have normal H-gear and clutch for console that costs 300$. well next week i will be getting DriveFX so i'm ok.

99% of the so-called fans on either side that tout how Forza 2 is better or GT5:P is better have no clue and have not played both games extensively.  It's as simple as that.  (In my best Yoda voice:) Lying little shits, fanboys are.

I have raced GT5:P extensively.  I have come in first on almost every event in all three classes.  I have purchased almost every car.  I have changed "assist" settings extensively.  I have played it on my DLP projector at about 80 inches diagonal as well as on my 42" 1080P Sharp Aquos.

I have done as much with Forza 2.  I've finished first in many of the events at this point (though admittedly not all of them).  I've played it on both of my screens and modified the assists as well.  I've played MANY of the cars and used many of the tuning and upgrade features.  In short, I've played the game extensively.

In the end:

GT5:P has better on-track car models.  Forza's are damn good, though.  Forza has better environments around the tracks.  Yeah, GT5:P has really beautiful stills and CGI stuff but I don't give a damn about all that.  It's a racing game.  On track is what really counts and they are very close in action -- so much so that I'd call it an overall tie unless you are just dead set on the cockpit view.  I don't care for it, though.

Both racers do a very good job of conveying the different handling characteristics of the different cars, drivetrains, horsepower, front-rear weight ratio and such.  They also do a good job of representing the different sounds.  Admittedly, GT5:P doesn't have the ability to buy upgrades as Forza does, but if you buy a supercharger or add a new exhaust to your car, you can hear the new muffler and the whine of 'charger where none existed before.  Sounds in both games are great.

Forza's game is so full of customizations in terms of handling and physics that anyone that argues that GT5:P is a better physics simulator is blind and hasn't played Forza and experimented with the extensive changes that can be made to affect a car's on-track performance.  Telemetry data for the win.

I realize that GT5:P is just a prologue so it isn't fair to compare all the extra stuff in Forza 2 like purchasing performance parts, painting, auctions, online features, and so on so I'll just leave it at that.

Here's the bottom line:  If you are a 360 fanboy and haven't played forza 2 and like racing sims, get Forza 3 (and Forza 2 if you want something cheap!).  Assuming Forza 3 improves on 2, it's going to be an damn amazing game -- PERIOD.  Forget about bashing GT5:P.  It's a good game, just like Forza 2, but I highly doubt the Full GT5 is going to be a better overall game than Forza 3 by some significant measure.  Just leave it alone.

If you are a Sony fanboy and think that GT5:P somehow smokes Forza 2, move along.  Go to the bank, take out a loan, and buy a clue.  The Forza 2 demo is good.  The game is GREAT.  Better than GT5:P when all things are considered.  When the FULL GT5 comes out, there is no doubt it will be an amazing game.  But then so will Forza 3 so, again, just leave it alone.

This is what is great about Achievement points.  I can see how far you have really played. You say you have played Forza 2 extensivly but you only have 50 of the 1000 gamerpoints for Forza 2.  Your only at a level 10 for gods sake!!!  You haven't even unlocked any of the really good cars!!  Seriously, your gamerscore shows about 2 hours of gameplay.

Not to mention these points came in the last few days, so it sounds like to me you just rented the game just so you could make this thread.

LIES LIES LIES!!!!

Your opinion not mine or many others.... i love both and i own both but your comparing GT5 PRO with a full retail forza 2....

Why dont we all just stop this and when both FULL games drop we can start it up again.... if i see another thread about which is better i will burn it......

Both games are good thats that....

"I realize that GT5:P is just a prologue so it isn't fair to compare all the extra stuff in Forza 2 like purchasing performance parts, painting, auctions, online features, and so on so I'll just leave it at that."

I clearly pointed that out, I thought, and was just speaking of simulation and graphics -- those areas where everyone likes to say one kills the other.  They don't.  Both are spectacular in those regards.

I'm sick of the threads as well, but my point is that most of the threads are from assholes that don't have a clue what they are comparing.

like i said in my first post its your opinion.. i think its a fact that PD used more polygons on GT5 pro cars then forza 2... if you had compared forza 3 then id say you are prolly right but forza 2 looks like crap right now... i own both you can look at my gamer tag for proof.

Forza2 single handedly got me into the sim racing genre. its pretty clear that i love sony but i was never a fan of their GT series into forza 2 dropped. AFter playing forza 2 i loked at one trailer of GT5 and i was floored. So i played both JUST as much (mab a litle less) then you have and all i have to say is both are good but after playing GT5 Pro im now HOOKED onthe GT series.. I have not seen forza 3 gamplay yet but if you compare forza 2 and GT5 Pros graphics GT wins by far...

By far?  GT5:5 car models are definitely better but trackside detail is quite poor.  If you look at the reflections from the environment on the hood of the cars in GT5:P, you can see that they are VERY low resolution.  Outside of the car models themselves, there isn't anything special about GT5:P's graphics.

Forza does NOT look like crap.  Are you playing on a high-def TV?  Perhaps there is something I'm missing because the car models are very next-gen in Forza 2 -- very, very far from crap.  As good as GT5:P?  Certainly not but let's be honest here...  It's not like PS2 vs. PS3 graphics, now is it?

i have a 1080p sony XBR 40 inch complete with DTS surrond sound.. my setup is great.

ALL i said is forza 2 a game thats more then 2 years old looks like crap to todays standards... motorstorm, GT5 pro, fuel, dirt, killzone 2 uncharted 2 are all games that prove this.. i dont think you have played forza 2 lately lol..

JUST because I say this does NOT mean i dont like it.. i love it but its BUT is has been out done over the years.... now forza 3 looks wonderful and proves that they can get MUCH more out of their engine on the xbox.

Actually, I'm playing both games right now... All the GT5 and Forza 3 hype had me needing a racing fix so I've gone back to playing both.

Again, I think crap is a bad way to describe the Forza 2 car models.  Are they as good as the most recent game releases?  No, but they are still very, very good, even by today's newer standards.  Also, I am only speaking about on-track gameplay.  GT5:P really wen't all out on the car stills.  Those are a thing of beauty but, alas, cannot be played.

im floored by this.... can ANYONE put a video please because what i played is not gameplay?? thats crazy..... GT5 pro looks better thats a fact....

You know the hi-res screen stills that show the different countries in the background -- like Japan for instance.  Yes, those are beautiful.  No, you cannot play them.  That still doesn't represent the car on track nor do the backgrounds represent the track scenery.

This is what is great about Achievement points.  I can see how far you have really played. Not to mention these points came in the last few days, so it sounds like to me you just rented the game just so you could make this thread.

LIES LIES LIES!!!!

I wondered who would be the first to click on my gamerscore and call me a liar, lol.  First, there are multiple accounts on my 360.  Ken800 is my only live-connected account.  I have others from local gameplay and play on them as well.  My family plays on multipile accounts.  Let's just say planning out a good gamer tag and sticking with it wasn't one of our strengths.  We ended up with multiples using just our first names to use in rock band and other multi-player games.  I'd guess I use  I am missing all sorts of achievement points from many games as they are on other accounts.  I never have nor never will be an achievement whore.  I couldn't care less about them...

Bottom line, what you looked at is my re-visit to Forza after having put it down for so long (I started a new career) as i just mentioned a few threads above.

Having 5 broken xbox consoles (I'm on my 6th) hasn't helped, either.

Nice try, though!

yeah it supports 900' turn. from what i heard FFB is quite good in DriveFX and very similar to original FFB in any other wheel, but it uses different mechanism to pull it. after all Force Feedback is just a catchphrase to me - if you can do the same thing using slightly different mechanism and it's good then it's ok to me(i don't care bout names and stickers on the box).

Hmm that sounds funny because the game saves to the profile you loged in to.  So your telling me you use multiple accounts?  Every time you played the game it would be at a different spot.  Also, the accounts can transfer over you broken 360's.  It's not like they are tied to the machine.

Anyways, I'm just poking fun.  I happen to agree with what your saying.  On the Sim end, Forza has more options than Gran Tursimo.  Yet GT5P has way better graphics than Forza 2.  This has changed with Forza 3 as IMO it has better graphics than GT5P.  I can't comment on GT5 because all we have is a video that dosen't even show actual gameplay.

The really battle will be when both Forza 3 and GT5 have been released and we can extensivle compare the two games.
