Just for the sake of killing any doubt I loaded up my 'The Boss Extreme' difficulty run saved right before final fight, which will present me with a Big Boss rank once the credits finish rolling (they are this very moment).

Screenshot comming up in a sec....or 5 minutes, the credits take ages.



Anyone who played MGS1-3 and bothered to earn a Big Boss rank on them I am almost 100% sure would agree the stealth needed in MGS4 was a joke compared to those 3 games.

It's clearly not a joke.

In fact, God of War, as admitted by Jaffe, would have never existed in its current form, without the invention of the 3D "stylish action" subgenre, that was DMC.

Hack and Slash could be a completely different type of game than GoW. It could mean a game more like Infamous, as far as that goes. Linear, stylish, puzzle solving, combo based, orb collecting, RPG esque gameplay is NOT always "hack and slash," imo. The main genre is "action."

Remember how awesome the "hack and slash" looks on Castlevania?

That's by Kojima productions too. It looked better than the GoW3 trailer any day, imo.

while I agree that DMC1 had a huge influence on the genre (it's the only DMC I really like out of the 4) but being first doesn't mean you are the best in any way.

we could argue to hell and back on who's better but we won't go anywhere because all it boils down to is personal preference. Some people like DMC some GOW and others NG all great franchises that brought something new and fresh to the genre and that's way they are loved by fans instead of being seen as another generic action game. To me personally if DMC invented it GOW perfected it but that's just me.

P.S I'm looking forward to Beoyntta (sp?) since I heard the guy who did DMC1 is the same guy who's doing this game, and it should satisfy my hack n' slash cravings till GoW III hits in march.


OT: I'm actually gonna give this game a look when it comes close to launch. I never really was a big fan of the MGS gameplay I always felt it's broken.
