Mattias Ohlund signed with the Tamba Bay Lighting in deal worth 24.5 million for 7 years (averaging 3.5 million a year)

I'm going to miss him. My favourite Canucks player. I'd have signed him at that cap hit, but probably not that long a term - maybe 3-4 years. Oh well, hopefully he mentors Hedman well.

Dwayne Roloson to the Islanders. 2 years, $5million. I wonder why they got Roloson, when they have Dipietro......maybe Dipietro is still having concussion like symptoms?

Nieds stays in Anaheim, 1 year 6 million.

There have been rumors that DiPietro is worse off than the Isles are letting on.

Pens have been quiiieet. Scuderi's not officially gone yet, at least.

Ye Gods, I didn't look at the Hossa terms. 12 yrs for a 30-year old? I like the pay, I like the player, but damn.

If it's front loaded, then it shouldn't really be a problem. If he gets 1 or 2 million at the back end, retiring might me more attractive than playing out the contract.

If it's front-loaded, that might mean trouble for when Toews and Kane come up for contracts soon.

Is the Wirtz family rich? I don't know too much about their finances. If they are, then it shouldn't really be a problem, but if they aren't they might have to give them an increasing salary structure, so that their salary goes up, when Hossa's salary is coming down.

Khabibulin to Edmonton, 4 years 15 million (3.75M/year). That's a great price for Edmonton, but the term might be long. The contract will end when he's 40, and if he retires at any point before that, Edmonton is on the hook for his cap hit. Perhaps he took a lower salary in order to increase his years. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283439

Cammalleri to Montreal, $30 Million over 5 years (6M per year). 1 Million more than I would have given him, but Montreal has money to burn right now, so I guess they don't care too much.

Kubina Traded to Atlanta, and Komisarek heading for Toronto!
