I bet a lot of them were planning on a more substantial increase THIS year, for that matter. 100K? Ouch. That's virtually no flexibility at all.

It's about to start!

Pronger to Flyers according to Darren Dreger.........looks like Jay Bo is off their radar. Depending on the trade, Philly got a lot better.

Edit: For Luca Sbisa, Joffrey Lupul, #21 pick and next year's first rounder (or 2011). Great trade for Philly. They do lose some good youth (potentially), but their team is still pretty young.

Edit2: Ryan Dingle goes from Anaheim to Philadelphia as well.

So Lupul gets traded for Pronger twice - once away from Anaheim, and once to Anaheim.

Tavares #1, to the Islanders, no surprise. That was a pretty big explosion by the fans.

Hedman #2, to the Bolts. My personal favourite player in this draft.

And with Duchene going #3 to Colorado, this played out how most people thought it would.

Calgary just about to pick. I'm surprised Kassian hasn't gone yet. I thought he'd be long gone before Vancouver came up, but maybe we could get him.

Missed Buffalo's pick while I was in the bathroom, damn. I was all excited for a second, lol.

Who cares who they pick, GO PENZ!!!

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Interesting, Luongo announcing the pick (and he screwed up his name, lol. Although, I probably woulda pronounced it the same way).

Jordan Schroeder (pronounced Shray-der). Not a big guy, but if he can fill out (maybe get to around 190 pounds or so) it shouldn't be a problem.

NHL Central Scouting’s Jack Barzee
“He’s a dynamic player, a leader and a type of player that has developed into a complete offensive and defensive threat every time he is on the ice. He has a rocket of a wrist shot and he can beat you by putting the puck in the net, going around a defender, or freezing the goaltender and passing it off to one of his wingers. The concern is going to be his overall size, like there was with Scott Gomez, with Brian Gionta and with Patrick Kane, but at the same age he is probably a little thicker and a little bit more compact than they were. He’s a great hockey player.”

Minnesota University head Coach Don Lucia
Strengths: “Jordan has a good strong base where he’s hard to knock off the puck. Quickness is not an issue for him. He’s a strong skater and has real good speed. He’s a thick kid. Jordan isn’t six-feet tall, but he’s thick. He’s strong physically throughout his body. He’s got what you’d call a good hockey body. He has a very heavy shot. He has elite hands and as heavy a shot as we have on our team. He can beat a goalie from far out.”

Weaknesses: “We’d like to see him shoot more. He looks for other players and tries to get them the puck, which shows he’s a great teammate, but we’d like to see him trust his own shot more.”

Overall: “He’s got the whole package. He’s been an elite player for three years now, but I think he will continue to become a better player at every facet of the game. He has an exceptional head for the game. His hockey sense is elite -- he has that great, great hockey sense. He’s extremely motivated and he wants to be a take-charge guy.”
