Martin should be able to coach the skill guys appropriately. He did have a lot of talent in Ottawa, and those teams performed well enough on both sides of the ice.

Their first line (my assumption being Cammelleri/Gomez/Gionta) is a better first line that started last season (Kovalev/Koivu/Tanguay).......albeit at a steeper cost. If they can find a couple of parts to add to their 2nd line, and an experienced 1a/backup type goalie they could maybe have an easier time of making the playoffs, rather than it having to go to the last week of the season.

Antropov centering Kovalchuk? Or playing on the wing with White and Kovalchuk?

Whatever the case, he's a Trasher. 4 years, 16 million.

Mark Recchi re-signed with Boston, 1 year, 1m.

Hard to believe I watched this guy win the Cup in 91 and 92. Good for him, still going, and good for Boston, getting a still-productive player at a ridiculously cheap price.

It's gonna be super interesting to see how these players perform for their new teams once the season starts, really looking forward to the new season. I'm getting worried about my Sharks - 5.3 million in cap space with 5 forwards & a backup goaltender need to be signed & the defense is still gonna need a little bit of a shakeup after the Huskin signing. Granted last year, the Boyle trade went down on the 4th or 5th of July so Doug Wilson still has plenty of time to work some magic but this is closest i've seen the Sharks to the Salary Cap ceiling in awhile

That Was Left-Handed

Damn. I thought he'd get 3m a year, which the Pens could've afforded.

Maybe we can re-sign Fedotenko now.

With ESPN reporting that Clowe has signed a 4 year, 14 million dollar deal, that cap space has now dwindled to under 2 million, with 5 players still needing to be signed. Erhoff or Cheechoo on their way out, you reckon?

Canucks sign Samuelsson to a 3 year, 7.5 Million contract. Decent signing I guess........solid on both ends of the ice, and loves to shoot. Could fit in on any line pretty much. I guess he'll be given a chance to play with the Sedins, and see how they compliment each other.

1 year, 1.8 million. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283616

He took a pay-cut to stay. I like that.
