NJ5 if Sony sell more PS3s their average cost will likely be lower per PS3 on the production side alone. Their average cost will be lower most likely if they make 10M PS3s instead of say 7M PS3s for example.

That doesn't change the fact that they're expecting to lose money this year ;) Those savings from increasing production by 30-50% are probably pretty slim (no pun intended).

I would say they are significant enough to make a difference. Yes, they are expecting to lose money this year, but I don't think they would lose as much as the price cut would imply.

Tease.

I just don't see any reason to lower the price of the system at this time.  Sony can wait, it's not like people aren't buying.  But, it's so expensive that if people don't buy it, there's no room for a price drop.  Maybe in two years.  You guys have to remember that the inital cost was somewhere around 850 dollars.

And trust me, you want to be in last place with something like that.  Can you imagine if they sold out like the wii did on those first few days loosing so much per system?  Now that it's cheaper, it's time to let people buy it, and drop the price sometime in the future, but, hold out for another 2 years at least before dropping the price.

Nope, because Sony has said multiple times that they aren't going to drop the price for their console and that they are going to try and make the PS3 be more worth the current price.
