The Maiden Who Leapt Through Time

I was planning on watching this the coming weekend.

So you'd say it's quite good, eh?

@Rubang: I loved Paprika, but I haven't even heard of Diacon IV. That trailer was great though! I really liked the song, but I can't begin to imagine what it's even about, what with all the Star Wars, DC and Marvel characters, dinosaurs, power rangers (?), etc.

Around the Network

I would've liked The Lion King a lot more if during Simba's exile he actually matured and learned things. But instead they felt that he should sing, dance, get fat and lazy, eat berries all day, forget his whole life, and grow a hippie mane. Hakuna, matata, hakuna, matata.

In the Disney camp, I prefer The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Sword in the Stone, and Sleeping Beauty.

I always loved Mulan, too. I think itès one of the most underrated Disney movies.

I especially loved this song:

@pearljammer, that was no trailer! That was the entirety of DAICON IV. The short recap of DAICON III is the intro.

A couple otaku made that for a sci-fi festival in Osaka in 1983. Then those kids became Gainax and made Evangelion, FLCL, and many other great series and films. They're my favorite anime studio, and DAICON IV is how they broke into the market. And it's set to "Time" by ELO!!!

Hideaki Anno, the one who animated the big nuclear sakura explosion part, went on to animate all the giant war machine monster parts of Nausicaa for Miyazaki the next year. He's really good at monsters and explosions and went on to be the director of all of Evangelion. I studied this way too much in school.

Travis Touchdown ERECTION CONFIRMED!

I love Hercules and Mulan.

@Rubang: Oh, I had no idea, thanks. Perhaps I should have looked it up some to get some context. Well, I enjoyed it, regardless.

On another note, Gainax... they are the ones who did The Wings of Honneamise as well, right? I have that on my To Watch list.

Eight Crazy Nights is the best one.
