Forums - Nintendo - Majesco makes me ashamed to own a Wii

In watching television with my six-year-old son, I see plenty of gaming ads targeting a certain demographic. One that makes me wince though is Majesco’s advertisements for its new “Go Play” series.

Go Play Circus Star and Go Play Lumberjack appear to be generic (and not that good) minigame collections. They might have been mildly interesting two years ago. But now they look dated and to be nothing more than cheap cash-ins.  Even the TV commercials have been derivative (very reminiscent of Carnival Games). (Go Play City Sports might be a bit better – not good but better – but it is not out yet.)

These commercials are the first time I have felt bad over my console choice. So I guess my options are to sell my system or change the cartoons I watch. I think I will change the cartoons. But seriously, is it me or does this show a company without a clue?

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

In TV I always see bad games (for me): games for children, for girls, stupid low-budget games...if you really want to see good games you can only buy magazines about them, going on internet (like now) or going to the nearest videogames shop. DS seems to be the worst console ever if you watch onlt the TV, but for a lot of hardcore people is the best handheld of every time! Same for Wii: if you watch the list of the games you'll se that it's full of good and awesome games! In TV Nintendo ads only Wii Sport, Mario Kart or new games for a few days, but great games are hardly to seen...

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

You should sell your system of choice, since changing the cartoons you watch is rude without asking your son if he too wants the cartoons changed.

I'm guessing this was all parody by the way. I just can't imagine a smart guy like you stooping down to the levels of a disgruntled Wii owner based on one third parties advertising campaign.

It shows a company trying to make quick cash by exploiting casual gamers who haven't yet had much access to decent reviews of casual games.
I really wish Nintendo would refuse release for games such as these, but I'm not sure if they have that power any more?

I'm not against 'casual' games (I own Wii Fit, play it regularly and am quite excited about Sports Resort) but I am against shovelware. The titles you've mentioned, Mike, seem to be shovelware.

Majesco has been posting healthy profits nowadays, and these $4.67-to-make-games are the reason why.

ONE major-produced title flopping could literally put this company out of business, even more so in this economic "recession". So until Cooking Mama is succeeded by another blockbuster, these games will keep coming from them.

Those cartoons have the worst games advertised though, so you shouldn't be upset. It is like going to the beach to see water---You know you are going to find it.

Masjesco has dishonoured you. Bushido teaches us that the only way for you to regain your honour is to either kill Majesco, or kill yourself.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

lol, good one....

OT: Majesco has always sucked at making video games IMO. just dont worry about it, as long as you know your not gonna buy this game then why bother?

I saw that commercial too. I watch a lot of Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon now that school is out and i'm unemployed :(

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Since when was the last time Majesco made anything decent on anything?
1985?

If you are unimpressed by Majesco games, then don't buy them. It's stupid for anyone to hate a console by having a high number of bad games. It's better to hate a console for having a lack of good games.
