Do not call yourselves RPG fans if you have not played DQ. Do that again and I will report you all.

Jokes aside, I think that DQ are great. If you wanna play a not so frustrating hard DQ, start with VIII. Others are a little too hard for the average FF player. And Beware, even the Nes DQ are 100+ hours games. Do not expect to beat it in a weekend.

I just bought a used DQVIII for PS2 yesterday so it would be my 1st DQ game

And I'm interested in the NES DQ looking at the above posts....

I've only beaten the first. I think I'm near the end of VIII, but it doesn't hold my interest well enough to continue playing. :-/

I will get it. I love Rpg's, platformers, party games, pick up and play games, Srpgs, oddball games (pikimin) and farming simulators. So dragon quest should be right up my alley. Also I play Zelda games, but I don't like advnutre games...

I played Dragon Quest I (back when the US called it Dragon Warrior) on the NES all the time as a kid. Still one of my favorite games of all time.

Eventually bought Dragon Warrior I&II and Dragon Warrior III for the GBC when they got re-released. Played a bit of Dragon Warrior IV via emulator. Bought (but haven't played much of) Dragon Quest VIII last summer.

Jeez Soriku dude... for a 12 y/o i gotta give you a bit of respect... I mean you're pretty immature but not that bad.

The DQ RPG's are just overly hard and overly long... not necessarily with the best power ups and weapons and characters... well as far as I could get in them.

Example, DQVIII the latest one I attempted for 40 hours... at the very beginning of the game, before you can even think about entering the first cave (there is nothing to do before this by the way) you need to gain 10 or so levels, and every area jumps up considerably and the enemies are skimpy as a mofo on EXP.
