If it doesnt involve snake then its a spin off.

Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker don't involve Snake.

What are you talking about? Last time I checked they involve Naked Snake.

I was basing what I said off of his definition of a spin-off:

"Same universe. Following different character. Who has been seen in previous games. Following a different story...."

I'm just trying to prove that by calling MGS:R a spin-off based on his logic would mean that MGS3 would have to be labelled a spin-off as well. MGS3 and MGS:PW (and Portable Ops) are the only games in the series that do not feature Solid Snake, who had a large role in every single other game. By his definition, they should be considered spin-off's.

I still think we should all wait for more information to see where MGS:R fits into the overarching story before we judge it.

Exactly. Give me a link proving that MGS:R's story is not intertwined with the rest of the series and I'll drop my entire argument.

Lol... I'm the one spinning it? Why are you twisting the meaning of words for it to benifit you?

I never defined a word or twisted a single meaning.  You are trying to imply from the article that it states that Kojima will be deeply involved but all the article states is that as a producer he will be more deeply involved.  Just pointing out that you are trying to say something that is not in the article or implied anywhere.  I'll say it again, the article does not say Kojima will be deeply involved or even implied it but you state that the article does not say it, and that's because it doesn't.  All it states is that as a producer he will be deeply involved.  You simply made up a quote to try to downplay Kojami's invovlement.  I don't see what's so difficult to understand.

The fact that I never made up a quote.

... its not snake.

So if the story takes place between MGS2 and MGS4 and tells the story of Raiden's dealings with Sunny and the Patriots, you would still consider it a spinoff? I know that I wouldn't, since it sheds light on events pertaining to the main storyline of the series...

Anyway, I'm done arguing. I think we just have different opinions on what a spinoff is.

The metal gear series so far has been all about Snakes saga. If they start to focus on a new character and story (even if that story ties into the previous series) then its a spin off.

I don't see anywhere that he says "I'll be deeply involved"

this.

Another website trying to make damage control about the fact Kojima is not directing MGR

he will deeply involved as PRODUCER, not director

Do you even know what a producer does? They overlook games to see if they go smoothly. And they do make decisions. Miyamoto is a producer for Zelda games but you see he has a ton of evidence, just like Kojima will.

producers are in charge of getting the project underway. Getting the script together, getting a crew, and getting the production costs covered. And being producer of MGSR, MGSPW, and Castlevania along with being MGSPW's director I don't see how much time he can devote for MGSR.

lmfao no. stop spinning. metal gear solid 3 had notihng to do with solid snake's story.
