The whole series is about the walking tanks. They aren't a universe either, just the main plot point of EVERY Metal Gear game. Kojima has already established Raiden as a character that CAN headline a real Metal Gear Solid game, so him being the main character should not necessarily be a deterrent in the matter. Really there's no piece of evidence present that suggests this will be anything but a continuation or fleshing out of the current storyline.

Let me ask you, what other games do you consider spin offs that hold the same similarities this game may potentially hold to the source material?


FINALLY! a logical poster who isn't out for blood.

Raiden headlined MGS2 but it was still Snakes story. Liquid Snake which was Snakes clone was the bad guy.

Numerous times I have said "If it doesnt" I guess people translate that meaning "It will be" I don't know what story will take place but if it branches into Raidens character and then a Raiden saga emerges I consider that a spin off considering the series so far has been Snakes.

I don't know... what other games are so cluttered fucked in the story?

And I believe you posted that this addition is being handled by a C-rank team (other PS3 fanboys seem to believe this gospel as well)? So, you must doubt Kojima's judgement. You believe Kojima will allow a C-rank team in his ranks? You believe Kojima would haphazardly release the Metal Gear franchise to the hands of a C-rank team?

Kojima is 1) the producer and 2) has stated that he intends to push this game graphically beyond MGS 4. But it seems you are using all of the little resources you have to discredit this addition. Even if you have not stated it directly, it is implied in your posts. And you're not very subtle.

That's one thing about fanboys in general....Inconsistent values and "truths" to support their irrational agenda.

2) How do you know what it follows? Do you work on the development team? Because a team is only as strong as its weakest link, and that wouldn't speak very highly of said team.

3) You should also be smart enough to know that C-rank implies inferior to A. Which would be you discrediting the addition to the franchise which you claim you are not doing. LOL You can just as easily say another team is working on the franchise. You do not have to classify ranks.  Has Kojima stated a C-rank team is handling the franchise? No, you fabricated this to support your agenda.

4) Do yourself and PS3 supporters a favor and quit this silly ruse.


C-rank is inferior to A. I'm glad we agree with something. And Private is inferior to Captain... funny aint it?

Exactly, hence you attempting to discredit the addition to the franchise (which you claimed you are not doing) and thus attempting to discredit Kojima. Guess Kojima and the Metal Gear franchise are not as high and mighty as you fanboys love to proclaim. Funny how all of that changed with the Metal Gear franchise coming to the 360. The 360 must be one mighty powerful device to convert the faith of the blind.

This is the reason your gospel holds very little weight.

So your telling me that an unproven team is a-ok? Seriously? An unproven team when Kojima isn't directing it. An unproven team without Kojima directing it and going in a different direction for game play. An unproven team without direction of kojima going for a different gameplay style and using a different character is nothing to note while people are praising the game?

And please, Show me when I ever praised MGS or Kojima. Until you provide that then be quiet. Because it doesn't matter if other people are praising it and I'm not. It doesn't matter if we both own the same system. It only matters if I start praising it then I put the game down.

Well that's where we differ I suppose. I always considered MGS2 Raiden's story, or about Raiden's role in the story. Really the whole test scenario was to reenact Shadow Moses with Raiden in Snake's place. Your main emotional drive in the story involves Rose and Raiden, which really doesn't tie into Snake's story at all. Solidus is barely in the game at all on top of it and neither is Snake. Really I think you nailed it in your last sentence. The story is too cluttered at this point to differentiate spin off from main title. The way I see it, as long as this adds to the value of the storyline present from the previous 7 canon Metal Gear titles, I feel it belongs right there alongside them. I'd rather leave the spin off labeling for titles like Metal Gear Acid, that are so much more removed from the series that they warrant the title.

Now I'm not saying anything is wrong with it being a spin off either. I just don't think it will be. Frankly, I hope this title is as different as can be, because I've still got a bitter taste in my mouth left by MGS4. I'm hoping between Rising and Peace Walker, I can get a little bit of that MGS magic back that seemed so absent from the last entry.

Maybe they'll use MGS2 as a gateway for Raidens upcoming role to make it seem more like the mainline story. I don't know, but like I've been saying throughout the thread (Which people like to ignore) is I feel like they need more than walking nuclear tanks in common to be considered main story.

LOL Because you are unaware of the team's talent, you would classify them as a C-rank team? You are not aware of the team's skill and commitment to the franchise. Kojima is. Kojima trusts the team with the franchise, and I would expect PS3 fanboys to appreciate that, especially.

You do not have the grounds to judge the quality of this team's work. Who are you? Are you a memeber of the team? Have you witnessed their work? Even if you did, I doubt you would be able to provide a comprehensive and objective assessment of the team's work based on your posting history. What credentials or expertise or experience with the team do you have to make such an assessment?

You cannot classify the team as A-rank or C-rank because you have no basis for the accusation. As I have stated before, you made an accusation to support your silly little agenda. Most PS3 fanboys do.
