Forums - Microsoft - Netflix on 360 is pretty nice

I just got an HDD for my 360. I had been using it to play RPGs but I wanted to pick up CoD4 (Got brand new copy for $25!) so I went out and got a cheap HDD. I singed up for gold and noticed that it said that I could stream Netflix and I got a 2 week trial. So I sign up and not only do I get DVDs from netflix I can stream an unlimited amount on my TV now yay! And it is only $9 to have a dvd and the streaming after the trial. I must admit this is very nice and I am glad MS made the deal to get netflix. The selection is pretty good, finished watching teeth and put 1984, 3 seasons of South Park and some other stuff in my line for later. Best part is my wife loves the idea too!

If the selection was better I'd make this my primary method of watching TV. There is a fair amount of good stuff though; since I have both Netflix and Gold anyway, it's just a free bonus.

I really like seeing some of the HBO series on there like Weeds. I don't pay for HBO so this is very good for me.

Americas have been lucky for awhile getting Netflix. But now in August here in UK we get the Sky stuff. That should be awesome. Loads of TV to catch up on. ;).

Also even the normal Live movie selection is very good. M$ have done very well.

That's funny; I just finished watching the first two seasons of Weeds using the service. It's almost the only thing I've used it for so far. Unfortunately the third season isn't available for streaming, so I'll be watching that using the standard Netflix DVD service.

Yeah it really is a cool feature, I like how you'll be able to eventually browse the selection right from the couch. It almost seems like an insignificant upgrade but I actually used to think that it was a little bit of a pain in the ass to have to browse from my computer . Just wait though, you'll be jaded after a while. For the first couple of months you'll be burning through all the stuff you like and after that it's like.......ok, what now. That being said, I'm still happy to fork over $8.63 a month for the service. I imagine that the library will continue to grow. Hopefully they'll be able to offer some of the newer titles for streaming too.

No doubt that MS is doing a lot right with all of this extra stuff. I was really impressd with the announcements made at E3 regarding things like Netflix and 1080 movies and the games on demand. Like I said above that it seems like little incrimental upgrades but they all add up to something bigger that makes me happier and happier to own a 360.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I haven't paid for TV in a while, for some time I used Hulu but now I mostly use Netflix, more so lately since they released Star Trek TOS Season 1 I wish they would release 2 and 3 also >

Weeds is showtime and it is on Netflix.   (At least season 1 & 2).   The suppose to also premeir 5th season on Netflix also.  (they also do this with Heroes last season so it was nice.

But I agree that there should  be more HBO series on it that would be great.  However i just dont see how this model will work out.  May be eventually Netflix will have tier subscription ?

Dang - I had Netflix at this address and couldn't take part in the free trial. Dang. I may sign my folks up for free Netflix and pay around with it. You are all having too much fun with this.

EDIT: I do watch Hulu on my TV with my laptop, but it would be so much better watching it over LIVE.

I had Netflix since last year, and I cancelled it in early February. I wish I hadn't. I've spent more than the cost of a monthly Netflix account in rental fees. I'll probably re-enlist soon. I saw the movies I wanted to see AND a ton of movies I'd have never even considered renting thanks to the unlimited streaming.
