This year we will be getting:

Magna Carta 2
Arc Rise Fantasia
Fragile

Which one of these game do you think will actually be excellent jrpgs? I'm leaning towards Magna Carta 2.

I already beat Arc Rise Fantasia lol, I can already tell you that it's good, if FF13 comes out at the end of the year in Japan, I'll either import it or pass by to pick it up, same with Tales of Graces =). Magna Carta does have some hot women though..... hmmm.... too bad anime chars don't turn me on.

Could be worse, what if you could only get turned on by watching anime characters while choking yourself with a belt and listening to Dido?

......it happened to a friend.......yeah......not me though....

@Zex:

ARF has a lot of voice acting, you can check out some of my impression here: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76653&page=1

I'm positive they said RoF would come out here in 2009. I'll go check again...

But you forgot Sakura Wars, Muramasa, Demon's Soul, FFCC: The Crystal Bearers. And I think that Trinity game and Last Rebellion come out here in 2009 too.

oh snap I totally forgot about those, though I'm not a big Sakura Wars fan since it's part dating sim which is something I despise. I can tell you that Muramasa is an excellent game and if you know some JP lore then it's even better, and Crystal Bearers look interesting as well.

Arc Rise looks to be the best of the three. Fragile has an excellent, unparalelled art direction but I've seen complaints about the gameplay. Still looks to be a good game and I'll give it a go without hesitation. MC2, I admit I haven't played the first, but everything I've read about it has been extremely negative, so it has to seemingly improve a lot to overcome that. Plus, ARF and Fragile have Japanese voice acting (Fragile I'm sure, ARF I think I read it somewhere, correct me if I'm wrong), and we haven't seen confirmation of it for MC2 and the English VA of the trailer sucked bad, that's another minus for MC2

I personally think that Magna Carta 2 will be the best of the bunch. It already fixed the major problems the first Magna Carta had (better voice acting, a completely new and fun looking combat system, the main character actually looks like a guy). As long as the story in MC2 is a good as MC1's storyline we are good to go.

I don't even want to think how was the voice in MC1, in that case

I think you seem to have forgotten the horrors of Localization.

The voice acting in Magna Carta 1 makes Star Ocean: The Last Hope's voice acting seem like Persona 4's voice acting.

lol hopefully Xseed does it right because there are A LOT of voice acting in that game, I mean, a whole lot. other than that, should all just be translations.

Hmmmm...judging from some trailers I saw of SO4....that's (sadly) a very good point

I agree but not ever dev has insane budgets like Kingon Hearts, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest.
