Forums - Microsoft - 1UP: Xbox Natal is Microsoft's next console

Well, this is interesting. You basically have Nintendo and Microsoft competing for the casuals while Sony will remain the one true console dedicated to core gamers. So, if you want body flopping controllers you'll be getting a Wii or 360, but if you want the best and most traditional games, then the PS3 will become your console of choice.

O'rly?

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

@Avinash_Tyagi,

Yeah, I watched the Sony press conference too. However, their motion control seemed to be geared more towards working with core games. As they said sports like Wii Sports is a no brainer for this type of technology while they were demonstrating more how it could be used in fighting and shooting activities. As they said in reference to Natal, you need triggers for certain things like shooting because shooting without triggers just doesn't feel right.

Furthermore, I believe Sony is still much more dedicated to the dualshocks are than Microsoft and Nintendo are to either the 360 traditional controller or the classic controller at this point.

I have to add that Nintendo did make some great strides at this E3 by announcing M:OM and Galaxy 2.

However, I think Sony realizes you have to have triggers and traditional controllers for the movement of characters.

What are you supposed to do in Gears with only Natal as a controller? Run in place to cause Marcus to run? The only really glaring fault with Nintendo's conference was where Cammy said in that one demo, "Now, you can know what it feels like to be Mario."

Nobody wants to do that that's Mario's job while we sit in our easy chairs and guide Mario on his merry way with just a gentle touch of our finger to the analog stick (of course the Wii does take this into account with the Nunchuk).

Stop seeing this as fact!
Its less than a rumor, it's what some guy from 1up predicts

Romance is like playing Mastermind except the girl never tells you which pegs you got right. - Seanbaby

No just a new market scheme to sell more units and take the wii's market/audience.

Unlike Sony, Nintendo actually has core games coming out for its motion controls rattle, Red Steel 2, Grinder, Zelda

See you say that Sony will be the home for traditional game, but Nintendo is actually making it a reality, bringing core games to motion controls

I think that judging from Sony's E3 Conference, Avinash, that God of War III will be fully compatable with the disco sticks.

Really?  I don't.  I would take a bet that one of two things is going to happen with the disco sticks.  First is that they'll be the major push for the next console but won't really affect the PS3.  Second is that they will become a side thing that is never adopted enough to become incredibly meaningful like the Eyetoy.  I don't think any major upcoming games on the PS3 will be compatable.

...

^In the part of their E3 presentation where they were demonstrating how the sticks can be used as a whip I think they were actually demonstrating how Kratos' chainblades can be controlled with them. And the archery part where he demonstrated how you can kneel and shoot the arrows, I think that is also something Kratos does in God of War III.

Yes he does use them, but the tech they showed was for one to one movement, which would make the blades difficult to use. How do you even move your character? The technology looks like it could easily be used to make a GoW mini-game like Link's Crossbow game, but it can't just be thrown into the game as it is now.

LOL.....

You have to buy both the Eye toy and the control...Or buy a bundle of both...

Geared towards Core Games?....Righto

Right....You need triggers...For what?.....Sony is not big on FPS games...everyone on this site says so...

Why would you play gears of War with NATAL?.....Don't act stupid to try and prove a point...you know that Natal wont be used for Shooters....And let me  just shine some light on you....IS MS tells NYKO.."we nee a Wire gun as a Place holder to use with NATAL...All we need is a gun like Peripheral for people to pull the trigger while pointion at the screen NATAL will handle the rest"

Why would this Work....NATAL can scan things..Like the video of the Kid getting his SkateBorad Scaned to play the Skating game....Why would thst not work with a GUN from NYKO...As to Movement....When you explain how sony will do it with out copying the Wii Nunchuk I'll tell you how NATAL will handle movement....
