How shocking that Epic would say this. It's not like Sony is paying them, oh wait, they are.

You got that sort of right - you're actually one third winner and two thirds loser.

Well, thing can change, but given current trends there is absolutely no indication that PS3 will ever overtake X360.
Check this out.

PS3 is selling at almost the exact same rate that the X360 was selling at at this point in it's lifecycle. Both consoles will enjoy surges of various sizes and frequency from certain software releases, I'm sure, but something much more dramatic than a few AAA games or price reductions will have to occur before PS3 can overcome the X360's one year head start.

To overtake the Xbox 360 during 08, the PS3 would have to outsell it by more than what it's currently selling at all.
... does that sentence make any sense? =P
The lead in January will be around 6 million, so taking second place would require selling at least 500k more than the 360 per month. The PS3 has been doing under 400k per month for the most of this year, and the 360 just had a huge increase in momentum, so there's no way this is happening.
Now it's anyone's guess what'll happen in 09, but I don't see anywhere near enough developers sticking around on the PS3 wondering why their games aren't selling. A few very big games are on their way, but none of them can hold a candle to Ocarina of Time or Super Mario 64, and we all know how well those turned things around.
