I mean, the multimedia center is what they were shooting for when they launched the Xbox, correct?

If that is what Microsoft are shooting for, they should drop the "Xbox" brand, that sounds too console-like, if you ask me.

Sony attempted this by giving a browser etc. But people just dont want a browser on the console. It has to be streamlined to work. Thats why Facebook and Twitter in their new forms will work a treat on console. M$ has intergrated everything so well.

It may be multimedia which is awesome, but it's still a very awesome top of the range graphics games console. The more they sell of them, the more 3rd parties will lap it up.

I don't even buy that many blu ray movies, or I can't remember the last time I brought one, since they are more expensive, oh and my Wii is soft modded to play imports so I can play DVDs with it =P. If I want to do more complicated stuff, I think I'll just stay with PCs.

me niether actually, i don't own a single blu-ray disk, nor have i ever seen a blu-ray movie, lol, but that might change later on, i only use my consoles for gaming

well the price needs to be cheaper first, I find the PS3 price hard to justify my purchase atm but at least I'd sell the 360 first before the PS3 if I ever want to get rid of one of them XD.

I'm using Wii Opera right now... I can check my emails and VGC from the comfort of my bed without my ageing laptop screaming it's fan at me (also Wii loads quicker... even if typing is slower, though I could connect a keyboard if I wished) and if I hadn't tired of it, I could check facebook too.

I don't understand why Microsoft, who basically shove IE down 90% of PC users throats, still have no browser for X360. What gives?

I don't know how to respond to this, really.  While there's certainly a debate to be had about which is the superior console, there is no debate whatsoever about which company is ahead in terms of "extras".  As it stands right now, Microsoft is completely destroying Sony in that regard, and with the recent announcements/implementations (netflix parties, twitter, facebook, joyride, last fm, games on demand, streaming HD video), they are opening the gap so wide it's hard to even fathom.  Sony may be ahead on graphics, might even be ahead on quality exclusives, but they are light years behind when it comes to multimedia and the "extras" you are talking about.

no first and foremost it is a gaming console and if they plan the all in one home media device like sony its still a gaming system
