I don't know how to respond to this, really.  While there's certainly a debate to be had about which is the superior console, there is no debate whatsoever about which company is ahead in terms of "extras".  As it stands right now, Microsoft is completely destroying Sony in that regard, and with the recent announcements/implementations (netflix parties, twitter, facebook, joyride, last fm, games on demand, streaming HD video), they are opening the gap so wide it's hard to even fathom.  Sony may be ahead on graphics, might even be ahead on quality exclusives, but they are light years behind when it comes to multimedia and the "extras" you are talking about.
