There's no special benefit for doing so, as far as I know. There's a bit of extra dialogue tho.

It will. You will have twelve crew members next time; Most being mercenaries that you pick up along the way to defeat the dark threat.

Unfortunately for me, there were bits of Tali dialogue I could only get if I had Liara in my crew, so I had no choice but to suffer a playthrough with that blue pest.

Just out of curiosity, I never played that combo... what do they talk about?

I actually played through the game in every Tali landing party combination imaginable, just to be sure I got all of her dialogue.

Some Liara examples off the top of my head:

On Noveria, when you're faced with the prospect of killing off the Rachni, Tali usually advocates sparing the Rachni Queen's life.  If Liara is in your party, Tali tells Shepard to snuff it out instead.

When driving through Ilos in the Mako, you can also squeeze some extra bits dialogue out of Tali by having Liara in your crew.

 

And yes, my dislike for Liara is about as strong as my adoration for Tali.

 How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to Kinect &  PS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

Idk about anyone else, but I'm surprised no one roles with ashley.

She's a sexy flirty bitch who can brings her rifle her shotgun her pistol her sniper rifle and sticks them up alien ass!!!

Lol, seriously my team is ashley and garrus mostly. If you get garrus leveled up correctly he makes an efficient stand in for tali and obviously the dude shoots straight and has some firepower. Ashley goes without saying, she's just a warrior man. It's hard for her to get KO'd and she's lethal with any gun. Just sprays and sprays.

This game looks fucking awesome. I just finished the first one and loved it. With all the decisions I made affecting 2....this game is going to be grand. OMG awesome! Put me on the train.
