XD But that's intentionnal! Well voice acting was okay imo... I've heard way worst than that!

Your best bets are the ports of older games. I haven't played XII, and have heard mixed reviews, but I love the director, so...

X was refried ass. Maybe I've just outgrown jRPGs, but I couldn't give a damn less about the story, and by the time there was any real customization for character growth happened the game was almost over. It was linear as all heck, the voice acting was terrible, the characters were cliches and not even good cliches. Bah. I hated that game.  The character switching and some of the combo-ing was great though.

 

VI and VII are where it's at.  Mostly VI.
