what do they make anyways?

Their speciality is motherboards.

If Asus wants to compete. It needs to find a market that isn't dominated by the other 3. It needs to find a Blue Ocean. Then once it has the people. move into the others territory.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

They basically invented netbooks. I've always had an ASUS motherboard. They are a rising company.

That said, they are smart to continue to look at the console market before they join it. It would be best to launch around the same time the others refresh their console lineups. And as far as a "Wii like console" goes, theres plenty of room for motion control competition. The segment of motion controls and traditional controls is gonna end up around 50/50 so it fits that there would be two traditional control consoles competing with eachother and two motion control consoles competing with eachother.

OLPC did that. Asus marketed them right. Not saying that's bad.

I'm not trying to diss OLPC, but what they made is hardly a netbook.

Why not? Small, low power consumption, pathetic hardware specs (good for the purpose, of course), running Linux?

The problem is that a console really is defined by the software. ASUS may be excellent in motherboards and such, but they will have a hard time convincing people to write games for them.

OLPCs laptop was for developing nations to aford to provide a learning tool for children and not necessarily intended as portable/light computer for internet surfing.  I'm not saying the netbook isn't inspired by the XO, but a netbook isn't even close to the $100 for a laptop per child goal that OLPC had.
