Strong move by Sony, this game has a massive following in Europe.

| NJ5 said: Well, it turns out that PES 2008 is really crappy on the PS3... Online play is practically unplayable and there are also slowdowns during offline play. People are pretty pissed off. Konami will issue a patch, but it's unknown when. |
So far only the Pro-G review has complained about framerate problems with the ps3 version of PES08. The Eurogamer review praised the game for it's new ball phsyics and didn't metion any slowdown at all. They did mention that the ball felt weightier and was somewhat harder to maneuver, so maybe the other reviewer got that confused with slowdown?

From the Eurogamer review: The ball feels considerably weightier this year, players more solid and more combative. From the instant you kick off, you'll feel the difference. No longer does the ball skid puck-like over the surface, but bobbles, floats and rolls with greater realism than ever before. Long shots are no longer laser-guided missiles but more akin to real football, where balance, space, time and distance play a greater role when firing at goal. It takes some getting used to, but after a few hours, the weightier ball physics begin to feel natural and satisfying, almost like watching a real, modern-day pigskin flying around a stadium. |
Well, I based my post on people's reports at forums. I'll check it out again later.

Calm down, that's just a server which was down, they resetted it. The patch hasn't been released yet.
PES 2008 for the PS3 is still an unrealeasable piece of crap. Konami FTW!

The game is not good at all. There are big problems with the game adjustments. The best way to make a goal is to take Messi or Henry and to run to the goal and shoot. It's definitely becoming an arcade game since PES6.
Moreover, it's obvious that 75% of the sales will be on the PS2 version.

How can that be if my link is for a news article, not a review? Also, notice this at the end of the article:
Check the site next week for our analysis of PES 2008's online play.
From what I'm seeing in randomly sampled PS3 forums, everyone complains that the online mode is unplayable. Which is why Konami has promised a patch.

Ah, so I see. That's what I get for not clicking the link and making assumptions. >_<
I are an ass.
I think this is a great move for sales. I just hope they resolve any game issues otherwise it could just make consumers upset. A lot of people will purchase it without any prior knowledge to possible issues with the game.
