All signs certainly point to Gran Turismo 5 launching worldwide this holiday season.
1. Sony representatives have stated on more than one occasion that thay are hoping for a holiday 2009 release.
2. Yamauchi has stated that the game is basically complete and that they can release it whenever they want.
3. Sony's fiscal outlook strongly suggests a significant PS3 price cut will hit sometime before the end of the year which will more than likely come when the 120GB PS3 slim launches somewhere between August and October. Sony really needs a super-profitibile software release such as Gran Turismo 5 to help offset any remaining losses with a $299.99 PS3 selling by the bucketload.
4. Sony's Q1 2010 lineup is already stacked comparitively to their Q4 2009 lineup with White Knight Chronicles, Heavy Rain, and God of War III. Sony really needs GT5 in Q4 much, much more than they need it in Q1.
5. It can be argued that Gran Turismo PSP and Gran Turismo 5 could complement each others' sales if released during the same quarter.
