Forums - Microsoft - M$ already getting 3rd party support for Natal

M$ seem to have given the industry what is the next step in motion controlling. EA were actually looking at tech like M$ for them to release themselves. They are happy that M$ have released this, they have games with this tech in mind that they are getting through already. Great to see big pub/dev get on and actually want to c reate for it straight away.

This is just what Natal needs fro mthe off.

EA was looking at introducing a motion controller of its own – and was assessing the same technology that powers Microsoft's Project Natal.

"We almost invested to create a platform extension like that for some of the games we're working on," EA's John Riccitiello told Kotaku, "We're very pleased, frankly, that it showed up at Microsoft, because I'd rather them pay for that. They can leverage it better, and we can build software. But I felt the market wanted that technology and I'm glad it's coming."

EA has been one of the biggest champions of motion control and is the earliest adopter of the Wii's Motion Plus peripheral with Grand Slam Tennis, while EA Sports Active also introduced its own accessories that complemented the Wii's existing configurations.

Its own solution for the Xbox 360 would have followed similar lines as the approach unveiled by Microsoft at last week's E3. 'We were looking at a camera system' said Riccitiello, 'In fact we were looking at the camera system they ended up going with. That technology's pretty compelling.'

Interesting to see that EA toyed around with the idea and then waited for Microsoft to do it, while Ubisoft popped out of nowhere to beat everybody to the punch. 3rd parties are getting crazier, and I'm loving it.

This is great news, im glad you posted it man.

Tease.

EA already is busy porting EA Active I'm sure as well as a plethora of other things... EA's Belly Dancing

Uhm, isn't this news a big "well DUH"?

Actually yes. The main concern from people around the net was game support. This is great news. A wealth of games will make or break Natal. Support is the thing that will make Natal big. You see.

Everybody learned their lesson with the Wii. They didn't take wacky new control schemes seriously, and they lost tons and tons of money. They don't want to let it happen again.

I thought the EA guy was referring to the camera the PS3 picked, not MS.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

No. He's clearly talking about Natal.

"Wealth of games" is a bit much, judging only on this article.
