Forums - Sony - Reckon Infamous will get a sequel?

I have just completed the game, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Certainly it seems to have had a generally positive (if perhaps not stellar) reception.  And story-wise, the game definitely sets itself up for a sequel of epic proportions.

However whilst I know it is very early days, the game's opening sales weren't brilliant for a title that probably cost a fair amount to make.

Currently sitting just below 200k after first week debuts in what will no doubt be easily the game's two largest regions, the title is going to have to show legs unbecoming of most (not all) PS3 games, in order to reach a million sales.  Given the number of titles SCE are working on, do we think it is likely they will commission a sequel for under a million sales?  OR if not, do we think the title will reach higher sales?

With strong word of mouth (or bundling) this title could hit a million, but it could equally just fall flat this week and next and be lost in the holiday rush never to be heard from again.

Probably. Sony is good about creating franchises that they think are good, if sales show it or not. They will fund a flop for a few games, just as quick as they will fund a success. It's in their nature and business strategy. With the fan reaction for this one, expect a sequel in 2011.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Heavenly Sword sold close to 1.5 mil and no sequel

Predictions

GT5 will sell 3.2million + first week on ps3 (made 06 March 2010)

FFXIII Versus will have higher Metacritic scores than FFXIII after the first month.... Bet going on with perpride - loser changes sig for a month

KH3 will be PS3 EXCLUSIVE - willing to bet removal from vgchartz for a month

You have the game? I thought it was supposed to be out on the 11th in Australia.

Anyway, I think it will. It's had a better debut than most of Sony's games this gen (Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet) and those went on to sell millions.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were Sucker Punch's fastest selling game ever.

Yeah, I have had the game for three days now...

It is very good. I got it at a rental place, I suspect they broke street date. I wouldn't count it a sure thing by any stretch, but I hope there's a sequel. This was great.

The end begs for a sequal.... after bundeling it fer a while it will sell a mill and they will have a reason to do it

Yeah, sales aside, I can definitely see a sequel coming for InFamous.

Even with less than stellar sales, I'd imagine we'll be seeing more of InFamous. I'd be very sad if we didn't.

I played as a hero for almost the entirety of the game. I don't know what it is, but I just really struggle to deliberately kill people in games that aren't inherently evil.

I completely understand. When I played through as infamous on the second time, I felt terrible. Once I'd gotten the trophies I ended up just helping people out becaues I hate being a jerk. =(

Yeah, but the unresolved stuff is still completely separate from the immediate concerns of the storyline.  Except for how things with his best friend will be worked out.

Personally I want to see him forgiven.
