Forums - Sony - Sony Fans -- It's time to hug M$ and your most hated Xbots.

I know the average diehard PS3 fan wouldn't piss on on M$ or a 360 fan if they were on fire but...  I get tired of all the turn 10/PD crap and other fanboy pissing contests, but I just had to post this...  Microsoft coming in and handing Sony it's ass early in this gen has really been of more benefit to the gaming community (and Playstation fans) than anyone could possibly have imagined.

Becuase of....

... Gears of War games, Sony was pushed to trump gears.  See MGS4 and KZ2 among others.

... Xbox Live popularity and feature richness, Sony had to get PSN up to snuff much faster than they would have otherwise.

... high quality titles coming out left and right, Sony 1st and 2nd party have had to really push the hardware earlier in the development lifecycle than they would have otherwise.  The PS2 wasn't pushed as hard early on but the PS3 has been forced to "prove" they really DO have the horsepower they claim they have in the Cell.

... Forza 2 and the upcoming Forza 3, GT5 is going to have features that may never have made the final version.  Damage Models anyone?

Microsoft continues to push (and push hard) to win the hearts and minds of the gaming world.  Because of that, Sony has to be in top form.  Sony fans certainly owe a debt of gratitude to the intense competition the 360 is bringing to the table.  It is benefitting every PS3 owner immesely.

Of course the same can be said for in the other direction, but, let's face it.... The 360 was out to win in the beginning.  MS has consistently brought its A game and caught Sony, to some degree, in a lull of arrogance.

AMEN! Competition is good. mmmkay?!?

Competition is good for the winning side :p. Fanboys are born without a sense of common sense

So basically, amen to competition...

And, of course MS was out to win against Sony, since Sony did a splendid job of shooting itself in the foot so many times in the first 12 months of the PS3´s life.

Yes, I guess I should have added that MS, for the most part, brought its A-game from day one due to fear (dare I say respect for?) of the Playstation brand.

Well, competition can be good for the WHOLE industry - even the "losers".  Even now - look at it this way....

Nintendo - currently in first, making lots of money

X-Box - currently in second, has already far eclipsed their last generation sales and going strong.  MS is setting themselves up well for next gen.

Sony - after a rough start, games are coming.  Plus, the PS3 allowed Blu-Ray to infiltrate homes and outlast HD-DVD.  A lot of Sony lead formats are not so lucky (beta, umd, atrac etc.)

i wonder how this will go

ive hugged sony tho, that was good

ms and i hugged many years ago on the old system

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Wii Friend Code: 4094-4604-1880-6889

kn, I can´t help but think that when MS heard Kaz Hirai say the famous "599 US Dollars" back at E3 2006, they smiled...and smiled big time.

there's nothing wrong with a little friendly competition
