Forums - Sony - Valve shuts out "Too Complicated" PS3

Well, with that attitude, we're better off without their games.

No one else besides them is complaining, many create beautiful exclusive games, some even lead develop on the PS3. Valve's pretty pathetic.

It's funny when fans of a money-losing company bash a profitable company for being crap and lazy.

It happens with Profitable companies too, Ubisoft says HI.

He is talking about sony not being profitable, not valve, Your response makes no sense.

it happens with profitable comapnies too= Nintendo

ubisoft= wii fans claimed they were lazy for not making good games for it, they even had a boycott.

Clear enough for you.

Maybe the console is not apealing to them like valve and ps3.  The wii has a very different demographic then the other 2 consoles.

Valve doesn't port to the PS3, period. Much better than doing half-assed ports which will only piss off those who buy them.

The sour grapes here are magnificent... lol... how many times have some of you raved about how a game "couldn't be done" on the 360 (often just to have it go multiplat soon after), and now that you find out one developer is in the other camp, it's all "we're better off without their games!! They are lazy and stupid!!"

Buy the other system, buy a PC, or get a life.

If Ubisoft, Capcom, EA Sports, Activision, Rockstar, etc can port from 360 to Ps3... why can't Valve? Seems pretty ignorant.

Maybe PC to Ps3 is harder... but they could easily port from 360 to Ps3 like every other developer.

TBH I dont care since I have a 360 anyways, but it shows ignorance and laziness on Valves behalf

@infamous8: Again, they didn't say they can't... they said they don't want to. They don't think it's worth it for them.

You can question the business practice, but this is not due to ignorance or laziness. They simply think their staff has more valuable things to do than PS3 ports.

The difference is that Ps3 fans say certain games ARE NOT POSSIBLE on 360 (KZ2, MGS4, etc)

Valve is not saying it's not possible. They're just saying they don't want to put any effort into porting to Ps3.

I am pretty sure the reason why they are not developping games on the PS3 is more than just because it's complicated...
They can't expect people to believe that in 2009.

It's really not that hard to believe for most with the exception of a few very vocal Sony "loyalist"

What? I think you are avoiding the subject. I looked at your previous posts and it seems you have a problem with PS3 owners anyway. So you really think the reason why Vavle is not developping games for the PS3 is because it's «too complicated»...

How am I avoiding the subject? LOL Have you read my posts pertaining to the issue? Your conclusions is supported by what?

This company is basically saying the PS3 is not a viable platform for its products because of the complicated architecture and you are doubting that based on what? Sony even insists it intentionally made the PS3 architecture difficult. Are you a Valve employee?

What grounds do you have to discredit somethig being stated by Valve? Who are you again?

And I have no problem with PS3 owners. Maybe you should do more research.

Companies want to make a profit. For Valve, complicated = more expenses. Valve does not want to deal with it...get over it.

That's why they are lazy...

You admit they are lazy right? (based on what they said in the article)

So because Valve does not want to take on extra expenses to produce products for the PS3 that tranlates to lazy? Please explain how and where did you get that idea based on what I communicated?

I am not sure what you tried to do just now, but I am very well aware of what I intend to communicate. Valve does not want to deal with the increased cost of developing for the PS3. Please, either formulate a better argument or read a book...

Toodles

You know they would make profit by releasing there games on the PS3, right? It makes you wonder why a company doesn't want more money.

I do not know anything pertaining to circumstances that have not passed yet. Lots of factors and variables go into producing a forecast model that analyzes the risk assessment of taking on new projects. I do not work at Valve, and there is no way for me to answer your question. Just as you do not work at Valve, so there is no way for you to know the answer to that question.

Business models are not as black and white as you seem to imply. What I can tell you is that whatever analysis Valve has done, it has determined that creating games for the PS3 platform is not viable financially. Valve does not want to take on the risk. It's really that simple.

Well then read my first post where I said that the reason why they are not developping games on the PS3 is more than just because it's complicated...you said it yourself.

And just so that you know...I don't really care for a PS3 version of there games since I already own L4D and CS on PC

Well, if you are not implying that

1) Valve is lazy or 2) It was given some incentive by Microsoft then I apologize.

I'm not a fanboy, I just try to tip the balance in favor of logic and common sense.
