Its not just recent. Sony has always spent a ton of money on advertising.
Look, you can't prove me wrong nor do we have the information to see how much they spent. I'll think what I want and you can think nothing. Everybody wins.

Well if Gears of War had 10-20.. infamous did not have 10-20. Period.
And this thread was first posted when the game was just released, and about the first week sales of 200k, and people didnt believe it would hit 1m. And it did. And now 1m is dissapointing.
I get the JPN version on Thursday. Been looking forward to it.

Wow, you changed my mind. No way they would spend an advertising budget similar to Gears. Its not like Sony is desperate to have a mega hit.
Anyone who thought inFamous wouldn't reach a million is nutty. It was a big budget title, had a huge marketing campaign, and great reviews. Seems like a staple to me which is why I was expecting better.
Now how about we drop it?
It sold a bit slower than I expected. But it's good to know this game gonna blow past 1M. I think infamous will sell nearly 1.2M this year. Maybe 1.5M LTD
I don't see your argument as a very strong one in regards to Infamous' success, but I will agree with you that it is more than likely it will become a million seller.
The reason I don't find your argument strong is:
1. When Heavy Rain was out there was a game drought for the PS3
2. Ratchet and Clank is a well established franchise compared to Infamous
