Forums - Gaming - I'm considering getting into the Splinter Cell franchise. A few questions!

Hmmm. Sounds like the Xbox version is the best and the GC version is only slightly worse.

Thing is, I've got the Gamecube on my room and that way I can play them whenever I want - The 360, on the other hand, is in our living room so I can only play when I won't bother the rest of my family, or when they aren't using the room. That's what makes me lean more towards the GC versions.

Since I saw the Splinter Cell 5 Gameplay at E³ I'm playing Splinter Cell 3: Chaos Theory on GC, and it's awesome. The graphics of the GC version are good enough and I don't think many people still play the Multiplayer mode... I agree that the XBox/PC-versions are better, but not much better.

Around the Network

IDK about Game Cube version, but with the PS2, the load times are annoying when you know that in the Xbox version a lot of the areas are all just connected as one big map. I'm assuming there's the same loading problem in GC.

I won't like PC controls for a game like this (I've never played it though). While it takes skill to sneak with the analog sticks, I think you can just control your speed with the middle wheel. So I think that means you can simply lock Sam at the perfect speed (fast but silent) and ruin the challenge of staying calm during times of stress, or making it to the next shadow in time, without alerting anyone.

Place SC1, 2 (not as good), 3, and play the last gen version of 4.

Current Gen DA was a disgrace... I can't believe they let Shanghai (although I know they alternate) ruin an important step for the SC series.

Okay, so for those of you who remember this thread, funny story.

Over dinner today, I spoke to my brother about games in general (he's a lot more of a PC gamer while I'm a console gamer), and while listing franchises he liked he happened to mention Splinter Cell. I started talking to him about Conviction, since the E3 showing of it was what made me want to get into the series in the first place. My brother hadn't seen any of Conviction yet but got pretty excited from what I told him. So anyway, turns out my brother has, and has had for a long time, all of the Splinter Cell-games except the first one on PC. So I looked online and found the first one for PC for $8 and ordered it.

Once it comes in the mail I'll be playing through the 4 games on my PC. For just $8 too :)
