Forums - Sony - Where would the Sony fanbase head if Sony dropped out?

The more I see how disappointing sales are for the opening weeks of PS3 software, the more I start to believe in the possibility of Sony dropping out of the video game industry (Yes! I’m referring to InFAMOUS).  It bothers me that such great games go unnoticed, and it crushes me to know that upcoming great games such as: Heavy Rain, MAG, Uncharted 2, etc, will all meet the same fate. But enough sobbing ! This thread was created for one reason. To ask you, the fine members of VGC, what will become of the millions of PS3 fans around the world if Sony were to drop their consoles? Would we have people tattooing “Sony for Life” on their calves, or people reminding us on the forums how “PS3” was the system that could have been, or would they adapt to the 360 and say “it picked up were Sony left off,” or maybe they will just disappear from the face of the earth! Who knows! I’m hoping you.

oh god

where u asked?... to there real lives i guess...

or if they stick into gaming, they will go to a system where gaming happens(either Nintendo or Microsoft or to new player in gaming industry or whichever they choose)

this is just a stupid question if you ask me...

but my guess sony will never drop out...

Nintendo loses for 2 consecutive generation(not counting handhelds) but they still don't dropped out

so for Sony to drop because of 1 generation... hmmm... it is just impossible...

in case for inFamous...it is a new ip, so what do you expect...

PLAYSTATION®2 is the yesterday.....NOW.......still......A_L_I_V_E

Consoles own:

Nintendo: Famicom(japanese NES, Family Computer), GBC, GBA, DS, Wii

Sony: PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3

Microsoft: future 360 owner

I'm tired of the same old arguments "It won't drop! Look at Nintendo" or " it's a new IP!!"

Can't we just assume for one time it will drop out? So we can predict where the loyal fanbase will end up!

I see what the problem is. it's not that the PS3 is doing bad, it's not that infamous did bad. It's that you have unrealistic expectations. 184k first week for a new IP? that's one hell of a sucess. The developers are happy, why can't you be?

The Heavy Rain developers know that their game will not sell many copies, and it wouldn't regardless of what console it was on. It just is not a mass market type of game

Uncharted is one of the biggest (non Nintendo) success stories of this generation. Uncharted 2 will do fine.

MAG - This is the only one I'm unsure about. If they can show people that the game works, it should sell alright. Just based off the info we've seen so far I doubt it will

Well, I don't see Sony pulling out yet, but since we are being hypothetical, I would say they would continue to play their PS3s until they died, or they would play their PS3s and buy a 360 for all the games that would now be coming out on the 360 (this is heresy I know, but KZ3 would be a prime example). Or lastly, if their PS3 died right after Sony pulled out, and all the used PS3s were unavailable, they would probably bite the bullet and buy a 360 because the games are at least comparable for the most part. But I dunno.

Past Avatar picture!!!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

They will probably all buy Wiis and foresake all knowledge of the Cell and PS3. They will embrace the revolution!

Tease.

I'd scrape off my "TREY 4 LI4E" tattoo, spend more time with the 360 and maybe start PC gaming.

@hatmoza 2.0

wanna bet inFAMOUS will sell over a million at least by the end of the year
