Hi everyone,
First time poster so cut me some slack hey? :P
Gonna give my views on Grand slam tennis. Seems like alot of the reviews of this game and virtua tennis have some grips about the controls and mark the score accordingly. My view is that the person who reviews the games must have some experiance in tennis to really give a good opinion.
My background is I have been playing tennis since secondary school and play once a week sometimes twice at a tennis school where I am in the top class, I also occasionally play in tournaments :D
On to my views:
I've had the game for about three weeks playing it on and off and at first I didn't like it because like a lot of reviewers it didn't seem to do what I wanted it to do.
However once I worked out how to hold the remote I got better. For those who don't know the you hold the remote with the buttons face up. That face represents the the top of he racket as if you are holding it side up, so the right side of the remote is the back face of the racket and the left face is the front face.
After working it out I now have the french open and wimledon slams on Medium difficulty and will get the US tonight :P might try online soon (I'm in Japan so don't know how it will be)
Overall the game is good but there are some gripes because I am a Tennis player.
First the slice is too fast and doesn't feel like a slice, which should be slow and low. Second the serve doesn't do much, if you hit it faster it only means the return will come back faster. It should be that if you hit a good fast serve the opponent should miss-hit it or hit some shite shot :((
Third the game speed is too slow, for me it feels like I'm playing in a low intermediate level class at my school kinda speed.
Fourth serve and volley is ffffaarr too strong I can win all my service games in seconds doing it and if the computer does it (which it does alot on medium difficulty!! who has ever seen Djokovic serve and volley every point!! lol) it is impossible to pass them first time even if you have all the time in the world, you have to play a drop shot or lob to get them to move first.

I say I have got used to it but it still messes up sometimes like I would line up a perfect down line backhand winner and the computer would decide to play a forehand and jump a frame to the left and play some shite shot out :'(
Finally to prove it isn't 1:1 which EA touted with all their might. If you go to volley it doesn't matter what side the ball goes the game helps you!! Do a backswing left to right with the right side facing the screen and the ball will always go to the right side of the court! even if it's a forehand!! Same goes for the other side!
This makes volleying easier which I guess is nice for those who don't play tennis, but for good players it means you can win almost every point!!
Overall: B (7/10)
I need to try Virtua tennis which I will get next pay packet :P
take breaks when reading!!
