Forums - General - Miami Beach Bans Bicycle-Riding Rooster

In what sounds like a bad subplot from a "Miami Vice" episode, police are trying to evict a bicycle-riding rooster from Miami Beach.

The rooster, Mr. Clucky, has become a fixture in town, where he rides on the handlebars of his owner's bike and poses for pictures with tourists. When a resident complained about the bird's loud crowing at 6 a.m. every morning, the city issued a fine and ordered Clucky's owner, Mark Buckley, to get rid of the rooster within 10 days.

The charge by police was keeping farm animals within city limits. Buckley, who houses the rooster in his apartment, said he's written a request for an appeal and plans to deliver it to City Hall, Mr. Clucky in tow. "I've got nothing against the city,'' he said. "It's just somebody trying to take down a happy little rooster."

With the crackdown on Mr. Clucky, police have now successfully put a stop to all illegal activity in Miami Beach.
