Forums - Sales - Apple: 40 million iPhones and iPod Touches sold

My contract is up with T-Mobile next year, I might end up switching to AT&T. Not only for better service but for the Apple iPhone in general its a neat technology that deserves to be looked into.

I mean the iPod Touch is pretty cool but having a phone like the iPhone with all the iPod features and a awesome phone service put into one is pretty awesome.

As for games, Apple is doing pretty good. Many of my friends just buy look applications for it but there is one game that is similar to DDR and Guitar Hero that requires you to tap the screen to the corresponding ball colors. It's a pretty awesome game!!

Around the Network

Apple are raking in the cash...it's actually time for them to ditch that rake and buy a bulldozer for the amount of money they are making.

and how many of those iphones/ipod's are used as gaming systems? creator of one of the best selling uphone game(35 on the list of best selling games in appstore) said that he get's only 20$ daily off his game so i doubt it will ever become a serious gaming platform.

waron - Can you cite that source?

I can assure you that games make a lot more money than $20/day on iPhone. I work for a company that just launched an iPhone game. I've seen the stats. They are very nice.

Here's a quick link on sales numbers:

700,000+ copies sold at $0.99 a pop. Take out apples 30% share, and they've been paid over $400,000 since it came out.

The most notable thing about the iPhone is that development costs are CHEAP. Some apps and games can be made for under $1,000 USD....Try that on the DS or PSP.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
