Forums - Sony - Will PSP sales numbers become useless now?

Will the PSP sales numbers become useless now?  I ask this, because with the PSP-Go and the PSN store, a sizeable percentage of PSP games will be sold via digital downloads, and I don't think VGChartz track those.  So the PSP numbers could start to be completely unreliable from now on.  Your thoughts?

Edit: NVM

Pretty much . Vgchartz has no way of tracking games sold through the playstation network , this has been an ongoing problem for PS3 games also like Socom , Burnout which have full retail versions availible for digital download.

This is especialy problematic when comparing across platforms (PS3 vs 360,Wii & PSP vs DS) because IIRC Sony is the only one out of the 3 which sell full retail games on their store.

All PSN game sales are also usless though.

@footballfan - huh??

and yes it will but right now downloadble titles sell much less than their disk counterparts.
the xbox migth become just as unreliable with their new games on demand. (however the file sizes are to big for my lil 20 gig[says 20 only came with 13!] lol)

As long as they will have games on the shelves in store, this is ok to track them.

I wonder what stores are going to carry the PSP go? if I was a retailer... I'd probably drop the PSP altogether as there is no hook to get the players back into the store to buy more product. I would instead focus on the other consoles that allow me to make profits off the games.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

But retailers will make no profit from software sales off the new PSP Go , all the transactions will be made through PSN effectivley cutting the retailer out of the loop. I imagine the retailers would want to support the original PSP more.

The hardware numbers are fine, but the PSP software numbers are already awful. They're not tracked well at all.

Maybe once of us will start a thread where we keep all released download numbers from companies and combine them with vgchartz numbers?
