People also say about how the price is too high, but infact the pricing of the system is extremely smart. The PSP Go will launch near Christmas for roughly £230. Christmas is an excuse to spend big on goods, people are more interested in the actual item than the price at this time of year and so the price shouldn't negatively effect sales the way people expect. Also the £230 price point is aimed at the 'early adopters' audience. You know the people who desire the latest gear and are willing to pay launch price. Once Sony have made alot of money and more importantly profit off the PSP Go through the fall period, then they can do whatever they like with the price because unlike the PS3, they are not forced to charge a high price....they want to. They could cut the price by say £50 without any hassle, and then use this as a promotion tool. People will thing that the PSP Go is good value at this price due to the massive drop, and this could increase sales. Importantly, Sony would still be making profit. |
