Forums - Microsoft - Should I Get The Last Remnant?

i finished the game. the only good thing about the game is the ending. when i watched the 1 minute ending i thought "omg this is a square enix rpg". seriously dont buy it . buy some ps1 rpg instead. P:D: the ending

p.s: the ending is more like a SE weird trailer. but still way better than the game.

If you are buying the PC version, absolutely. If fixes the technical flaws in the 360 games. It also adds a few cool new features such as the Turbo feature for upping the speed of the battles.

If you are buying the 360 version, I'd rent it first. The technical flaws maybe a turn off for you. If you install the game to your hard drive it reduces but does not eliminate them. I got pretty far in the 360 game before I picked up the PC version.

If you doubt my affinity for the game you can look up my steam account, which is also Darc Requiem, my best friend was laughing at me because for the first month I had steam. I had a rating of 10 purely from playing The Last Remnant. I could technically finish up my third play through but I want to clear the Ancient Ruins.

The battle system is the real deal breaker on the game. I absolutely loved the battle system in TLR. Especially later on when you can have multiple unions, up to five, under your control. The battle system  is almost like a turn based/strategy RPG hybrid. It's hard to describe and its best to experience it yourself.

The music in the game is outstanding. Some of the best I've heard in a JRPG in sometime.

@ jonnhytesta: Duh... Old PS1/SNES RPGs will probably always beat new RPGs, but it's still not a bad one.

You want bad/boring RPGs? Try Xenosaga Episode II, The Elder's Scroll IV: Oblivion, Star Ocean: Till The End of Time, etc.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

I got the PC version and has spent probably over 100 hours into it. For sure, it's hard to understand anything about this game at first, but if you are patient, you'll learn more and more and once you understand most of the gameplay you'll find this game addicting.

stop loosing time making this craps and people will buy your games.

I played it on pc and I must say it is one of the most frustrating game I have ever played in my life. Running around that freaking desert for hours trying to solve that one annoying side quest.

Last Remnant can be really fun, it has an interesting combat system which I thought was absolutely amazing, but it comes at a cost. You lose a lot of control over your guys, which can be extremely frustrating. Plus the game is incredibly hard. You basically have to play it the exact opposite of how the game tells you to play.

The story is passable, but nothing special, I did enjoy the music though. The 360 version is riddled with technicle flaws and it is pretty much mandatory to do the disc install. Even then issues will crop up like poor frame rate (which is a very big deal because the battles have timed button presses) and texture pop in.

Ultimately, I had a lot of fun with it, because I really enjoyed the combat system, it's a lot more strategic than most RPG's, but it is very hard. Be prepared to play a battle for a couple hours and then lose, and then have to play that battle again.
