NJ5, if GT5 really comes out this year, what do you think about a slim PS3 + GT5 bundle?...it´d seem like an obvious move on Sony´s part.

That would be a good move especially if coupled with a price cut and done before the holidays. If they do it without a price cut or in 2010 I still don't see that being enough to hit 13 million in a recession, and when PS3 sales are down year-on-year.

However, are there any signs GT5 will be ready to release this year?

it's a tricky economic situation and his company is releasing a freaking expensive skateboard controller? hahah

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

NJ5 Yamauchi said the game could be shipped now however he is doing so. It is pretty obvious Sony have told him and PD to keep polishing the game until holiday 2009.

Add the huge chance of a PS3 Slim at the end of 09 we have a situation of PS3 Slim + some kind of price cut due to that + GT5 = Big sales. I honestly see no reason why GT5 will not single handily take care of EU and that along with FFXIII in Japan. No idea about NA though.......lost cause right there.

@RPG: Then Sony did a small screw up in not announcing GT5 for holiday 09 at E3. That would have been a significant announcement, and they really need GT5 as soon as possible.

No they did not, had GT5 been announced GT Portable would have been completely overshadowed. There is that new German convention coming in August where I am sure the announcement and release date will be given. If not there then latest TGS which is in September. According to Amar and logic PD are going for a WW release and I am sure with a price cut the game will sell well.

There was a 1 minute trailer and people were foaming from thier mouths. Nascar, WRC and damage (meh) was shown so the game can take it's time since it will sell well. Add DLC in the future and the fact that GT5? Portable has sold 3.7 million GT5 will be a nice little cash cow.

Yamauchi saying the game could ship at any time it is kick the teeth though, Sony obviously waiting for the price cut.

Ehhhh, the console are probably as cheap as they are going to get this year. If any console gets a price cut it probably will be the PS3, and I anticipate $49.....at the most if any.

IMO the freaking PSP Go already needs a $50 price cut.......:P

The PSP Go is probably priced as $250 to subsidize the losses they'll need to take from a PS3 price cut.

I'm sure they'll cut PSP Go's price pretty quick if it doesn't sell well, but it could still backfire if people subconsciously associate the PSP Go with "expensive" (as may also have happened with the PS3).

PSP Go is targeting at people who are willing to pay full RRP prices on digital content which cannot be resold or rented. It's no suprise Sony decided they can try milking this audience on hardware too
