Smash Bros. Brawl User Online Service Ending

When Nintendo's Wii fighting game Super Smash Bros. Brawl launched in 2008, it was touted for its user-generated stage designs and replay data. That service, sadly, will soon cease. From the game's official website:

As of June 30th, 2009, the current service that accepts user-generated snapshots, stage designs, and replay data will no longer be available. Please note, however, that we will continue to distribute such data after that date.

An explanation as to why Nintendo decided to end this service was not provided.

I have NEVER used that service before, but for some reason it bothers me that the option will no longer be there.

Um, what service?

Now that I think about it, I never ONCE got an online match to work, either! I swear!! I'd just sit in the lobby forever, and then go back to playing single player or something.

The user generated content was fun though =/

it's the service that you post your stages and stuff to Nintendo as it seems....

also, it seems a they are still going to provide daily stage/replay/snapshot downloads!?

Lol I have had that same problem so many times I decided to just not bother anymore.  The fact that there is no ranking or stats for online games also took away any incentice.  You could play against the same people in 5 battles but at the end have no idea who had the better result.  The fact it was also timed battles only was also super annoying.  Shame.  Had the potential to be the best ever game if they had gotten the online right.

On topic I have never heard of this service so couldn't care less that it is being taken away.

so long as I can still send content to my friends on brawl and can still play with FC online, I do not care what they cut out of brawl's online support.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
