I think the PS360 fans hate him because he's had uncanny accuracy in predicting what will happen in the industry, not so much because he can be very condescending.  Like he said in many of his posts, they always attack his writing style and arrogance, never the content of his write-ups.

Also, I dunno when folks will understand that he's not studying Nintendo per se, he's studying disruption.

Well thanks for totally denying my opinion and rights. Maybe you should go to Guantanamo Bay, and explain to me how some of his methods aren't similar. Malstrom completely just shatted on the Hardcore and is making it seem like the Wii race is superior, tell me how this isn't similar to Hitler. I'm not saying he doesn't have good points, even Nazi's can make great music ie Strauss. Although I don't condone his methods, it feels like he's trying to create this barrier between the two gamers. However due to your last response I'm guessing you'll take the easy one sentence way out.

sorry...the barrier was created due to the hardcore to begin with and he's giving them the war they asked for

being a Wii owner and wanting to have great games is wrong in the eyes of the HD fanboys..

now they rejoice for their immitation controls..lol..sad people..the division was made by the hardcore..not malstrom

I fail to see any rejoicing. You see, this is the problem with wii fanboys:

even though you are winning, you still feel the need to justify the wii through false info and your delusional optimism. Links? Screens? You can't prove this beyond a shadow of a doubt.

AND, There is no real divide, only the one malstrom conjured up because of his frusteration with the third party support and a few fanboys.. But this guy just wants to be a dick.. So we all lose.

 

A stupid person on teh interznetz is no suprise though. It is gut wrenching when people support him though.

Microsoft and Sony aren't trying to survive.  They are trying to expand their market.  There are no signs that Microsoft or Sony have any plans of leaving the market.

Also, if you read that article and didn't think he's an asshole then you  don't know what an asshole is.  He may be right but he's still an asshole.

@deathcape even if there is a barrier, and if there was a division made by the "hardcore" with the fault belonging to them, do you think it's right for Malstrom to continue igniting these flames of war. This is the 21st Century I expected a little more change from the human race by now. What's the point of arguing over hardcore and casual ideas, at this point both of them will likely exist an remain on this world, so why can't Malstrom just leave it at that and let both make peace.

Pikmin 3 will be shown at E3 2009. Legend, we know that Malstrom is not a political scientist and that his political predictions are poor, it was obvious from economic models done priror to the election that Obama would won, but this is not poltics we are discussing, we are discussing the gaming industry and he's been right more times than wrong, saying Pikmin was going to be at E3 was expected, no one was expecting Miyamoto to say that Pikmin's dev team was too small to get a demo going, however on average he's been right more times than wrong.

So lets see. Third-parties are already able to port games between the PC/PS3/360/Wii which have different control schemes, different architectures, different specs, etc, but will have trouble porting games in the future?  There will likely be just a small subset of games that couldn't be done (just like there's a small subset now) but that hardly justifies the outlandish claim Malstrom is making.

As for third-parties drifting towards the console with the lowest development costs, if that were the case everything would be made for the DS now, hell it's even cheaper to develop for than the Wii.  The fact is that he completely fails to take userbases into account and it's the reason he'll never comprehend why many hardcore games are currently made for the HD consoles and will be made for them in the future.  He also fails to take into account the online experience which is the reason why many hardcore games are meeting with success in the first place.

This "The whimper of hardcore dreams" is nonsense and just more wishful thinking from someone that no longer even tries to come up with any kind of reasoning that doesn't completely fall apart when looked at objectively.
