I think a FF type future environment would be cool. Like FF7 was, very futuristic, but still maintained the fantasy feeling of the previous games. The game would not do with COMPLETELY futuristic. That is what Metriod is for. I am talking he uses a gun blade, airships, and there are flying cities... but the cities are not sci tech, they are hi- tech grecco roman, you know what I mean?

If Link gets a god damned gunblade, I am quitting Zelda forever, and destroying all the ones I already own.

I'm pissed enough as is with goddamn Spirit Tracks

Zelda with TRAINS? wtf...gay crap...ugh...couldn't stand WW crappy world..PH was quite good..but ST?

the whole idea is anti Zelda..so..lightsabers...and FF stuff in Zelda would ruin it for me

Putting trains in Zelda is the upper-limit of the sci-fi/FF-esque/steampunk elements I'll be okay with in a Zelda game, and even that took me some time to come to terms with. A futuristic Zelda, IMO, might as well be a new IP. How would it even work? Ganondorf the mogul of some shipping business threatening to monopolize trade? Link hopping on his motorcycle to speed across a technology-strewn countryside? Seriously, it's not just Link and co. and the gameplay that make Zelda games Zelda games; they just wouldn't work if the setting was radically changed....so I'm baffled why so many Zelda "fans" are clamoring for this. There are other ways to get your sci-fi fix, please don't drag Zelda into it.

/end mini-rant

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Please no futuristic scifi stuff in Zelda... Those of you who like that sort of thing have Other M to look forward to (which will probably come sooner than Zelda Wii anyway)

There was concept art FOR LINK and Miyamoto said LINK IS OLDER. You are still playing as Zelda. -_-

Also just think of other weapons. Swords aren't the only weapons you can think of that are held like that. I mean a Scythe......I will jizz on my pants if Links new weapon is a Scythe.....

Hmm...........Im still skeptical about that image. >.

He mentioned de lack of sword in the picture, but he also mentioned thinking about archery and sword play in WSR to relate to Zelda.
I believe the story will be in the beggining of industrial age (steam machines, primitive electrical machines at most).
That would explain the lack of sword.
But a ancient evil returns to the world and only the power of master sword and Fire/ice/Light arrows are able to fight that evil.
A young man chosen by the Tri-Force now go in a quest fot the Master sword and to save the world from the darkness.
Due the age the story happens, balloon travels are likely and a few like devices we saw in TP.
Use learned magic or acquired masks seems natural on this context.

I would buy a game like this. =P
