Forums - Microsoft - Last questions before I "jump in"....

Well I've pretty much decided that I'll sell my ps3 as long as I can get a good offer on all my games and the ps3 itself. A friend said he'd buy it with both controllers and one game (hasn't said which yet) for $300, which is surprising seeing as he always offers crap.

Anyways....

- Can anyone confirm if the new elite bundle really comes with the older 360 model? I bought a ps3 mainly to avoid the RRoD. If it does contain the older model, I guess I'll just deal with it though I'll be a little annoyed if it ever happens.

- What exacly can/can't you do if you don't buy a Live card? And is there a good place to get them cheap?

- In CoD4/5, are the triggers used for aiming/shooting? I'm just hoping it's not the small buttons in front of the triggers. I've got somewhat used to the dualshock, though I still prefer the 360 controller......just can't stand the dpad.

My new PC arrived earlier so I'm gonna take today off to mess around with it. Tommorrow I'm probably gonna buy a 360 Pro just to get a feel for it (then get a refund afterwards).

I think my only regret will be missing out on GT5, so I'm hopin forza 3 ends up being good =/

1)I don't know the exact numbers, but there is a way to tell which model you will be getting when you buy the 360. Im sure someone can post that for you

2)As for having gold, it's a must if you want to play online games, use netflix, etc. I would look on Buy.com or amazon when they have deals on year subscriptions. Usually $10-$20 off. The service is well worth it. Anyone who actually uses it will tell you that.

3)Shooting is the Triggers just like on the PS3 controller.

There is very little reason to buy an elite instead of a pro. You get a $2 HDMI cable, a black paintjob, and a 120GB drive instead of a 60GB drive. But it's $100 extra for otherwise identical hardware.

Here's how to tell what chip it is: http://www.oxmonline.com/article/features/mag/jasper-friendly-xbox?page=0%2C0

Being a gold member allows to play online, download demos a week before silver members, play 1 vs 100 for free, use Netflix if you have a subscription to Netflix. It's $40 if you buy it through your console, I think it's also $40 on Amazon. Make sure it's the 12+1 month so you get that extra month. There's also a bundle with a gold card, messenger kit, and PGR4 for $60 I think.

It should control the same as the ps controller, there's a demo of WaW to see if you like the controls

You'll be happy with Forza 3, it even has a release date

As long as the model states 175W power supply or lower you should be good when it comes to RROD. They've been selling those since November 2007...

Amazon has sales on gold cards every few months. 40 bucks for 12 + 1 month is not bad.

Live is a good service no doubt, but I still feel as if they rip you off. Even with a gold membership you are still limited to hell.

Newegg.com. Pretty much always has the Gold cards 13 months at about $38 with free shipping.

Also, to TheBigFatJ, the current Elite bundles come with 2 games (Halo 3 and Fable 2) and the HDMI cable is of much higher quality than a $2 cable. Last I knew it was an HDMI 1.3 spec cable which the minimum cost of those is like $15.

The new bundle also comes with Halo 3 + Fable 2. I need a large HDD since I plan on installing all my games (the 360 is a loud beast) and I'm gettni Halo 3 eventually so it'll save me some money.

Demo for WaW? I forgot to ask....is it true every game on Live has a demo? Or is it the XBLA ones only?

And is it actually possible to request a newer model from whichever store I buy it from if I explained to them that older one is known for breaking down?
